3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 arrogantb (899) - Denver, Colorado, USA - APR 21, 2009
12oz bottle, I think I paid $8 for the sixer. Interesting that this is bottle conditioned as well as made with whole hop cones juts like another certain pale ale. Color was golden, clear, good head. The smell was well, nondescript to say the least. The taste was very balanced between malts and hops and not what I would call hoppy at all. It was however amazingly easy to drink. I could see myself purchasing this with some regularity if only it were cheaper than SNPA.

Bottle shared by Crosling. Poured a clear pale-copper color with a 1/4 inch white head that faded to a soapy layer. Aroma of leafy, floral hops with some hints of dry citrus fruit (orange, tangerine) and a light honey sweetness. Crisp, clean entry with some light fruity sweetness (orange) and a light lemon tartness leads into a lightly bitter, dry floral hoppiness that finishes with some dry fruity undertones (orange peel and tangerine). Crisp on the palate with low, tight carbonation. Overall, a very clean, crisp example of the style that is well done and enjoyable to drink.

Pros: Nice bright fruity hops in the nose. Very nice appearance. Restrained bitterness. Very clean and nicely balanced. Really quite good for the style.
Cons: Mouth feel could be more rich. Could be a bit brighter and hoppier.

The aroma is soapy, grassy, citrusy, gingery, and malty. The appearance is cloudy gold with an average head. The flavor is like the aroma it’s simple but well balanced. The palate is smooth. The finish is clean. Overall a very nice tasting beer with a bit of a chalky element to it.

Well, punch my doggies! In the end this is a solid, drinkable beer - but the aroma was awesome. I cracked the bottle, breathed deep...and my saliva glands went nuts. Drinking was not as memorable as smelling, but altogether enjoyable - sweet up front, thoroughly-boiled-hops-bitter in the back, rounding it out and making it a clean-tasting brew. Boulevard Pale Ale hits about a solid 20 to 25 on my Beer30-o-meter.

Very very hoppy. Probably my least favorite Boulevard but doesn’t mean its bad. Just least favorite.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 scooterbub (534) - Lander, Wyoming, USA - MAR 30, 2009
Bottle. Pours a hazy gold amber with a large, foamy, pillowy, white head that slowly fades. Taste is of caramel, hops, pine and citrus. Similar, but lighter aroma. Some bitterness. Is a little thin and kind of buttery. Easy to drink and rather enjoyable. A nice beer to pick up when it is on sale.

Bottle. Pours hazy dark orange with an average, fizzy, white head, somewhat diminishing with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (husky grain, cereal, meal), average hops (flowers, grass), heavy yeast (sweat) with notes of butter and wet paper. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter-dry-spicy finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.
