COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our town was once home to a number of small, regional breweries, foremost among them the George Muehlebach Brewing Company. As these brewers disappeared, so too went the full flavored but easy drinking classic American lager. Today, we revive their legacy with Boulevard Pilsner: 100% malt, real hop character, unpasteurized. It’s the taste of tradition.

This is a classic example of taking a beer for what it is. As an hoamage to classic American Lager with roots firmly in German/Czech Pilsners this beer is almost perfect. Not much to the nose, beautiful clear gold color, full bodied/mildly hoppy, even somewhat malty (for a pilsner) this beer nails the style while giving us all a reminder what pre-Prohibition lagers were like in the US.

Yellowish color, not too powerful an aroma. Very drinkable, and definitely easy on the taste buds. What else can I say? It’s a good beer.

Bottle. Pours a glassy yellow with a lively body and a foamy white head. Aroma is malted straw, hay, and a thin ribbon of raspberry. Flavor is dry hay, light floral biscuit, and a touch of wheat honey. Lingering mouthfeel. Pleasant beer; good for a hot day.

Botlle, Liquor World, Fayetteville. Light copper pour, modest layer of white bubbles. Pretty soft nose, but what is there is pleasant. That slightly rough grainy lager malt and some restrained floral hops. Good substantial body with fine peppery carbonation. Very light toasted malt flavor with a flinty edge, background earthy hops. This isn’t the sort of pils that bowls me over with delight. But it is solid as can be, and I wish there were a lot more like it on the market. I can see an evening of these being very pleasant.

I was really surprised how much I liked this one - it’s darker than I was expecting, more of an old gold than a yellow, and a loose white head. Smell is grainy and grassy, plus a surprising amount of caramel. More full bodied than I was expecting, as well - almost like an ale of some sort. Flavor is more malty and finishes with crisp and clean. Thanks to phaleslu for this one!

This finally showed up in CO - Clear gold/copper pour - moderate carbonation, but a very minimal head - crisp, grassy noble hop aroma, with a bit of dry, crackery maltiness with a wee bit of sweetness hiding underneath - starts fairly crisp and lightly bitter, but a fairly sturdy, moderately sweet maltiness arises through the middle - adds a bit of honey character that compliments the floral notes of the hops - the malt sweetness diminishes a little by the tail end, but still lingers through the finish, keeping it from becoming as dry and crisp as I like my pilsners in the finish - still, quite clean, balanced and pretty damn tasty - a fairly solid german-style pils.

This was a pretty decent brew. I was surprised to see that I had not tried this one. Nice flavor with a crisp finish.

Pours golden orange with a small white head. The aroma has clean pils malt with a touch of toast and bit of bread, light spicy hops and a smoothness to it. Medium / light body that is a bit more smooth and hefty than most. There is a touch of a bite at the end due to the spritzy carbonation. The taste begins largely with the aroma traits and is far more malt-forward that my normal likings for a pils, but this is still quite nice. The malt is clean and rich (at least for the style) with just enough toast. The finish has a little hops kiss to it. A very nice beer & another underrated one in my opinion. Blvd is one of the most consistently solid breweries out there.

Bottled, from Spokane, WA. Clear golden, small head. Bready malt and grass greets me. Mid-dry with medium body and soft mouthfeel. Pleasantly relaxed with hay-like hops and balanced bitterness. Ah, the joy of quality pilseners in the summer!

Pours a clear pale golden straw color with very pal golden yellow hues when held to a light source and a two finger frothy, soapy white head that has excellent retention, only slowly settling into a lasting cap. Sporadic chunks of soapy lacing left behind. Crisp, slightly hoppy aroma with lots of pilsner malt along with hints of biscuit, straw, grass and light fruit. There’s a hint of apple and pear in the nose giving it a slightly sweet presence that balances out the earthy hops. This beer tastes light and crisp but is fulller bodied that I expected, which is a very welcome surprise. Soft carbonation up front with a nice dry earthy hop presence up front that lingers over the pilsner malt backbone into a sweet, slightly dry finish. This beer is excellently balance wit the perfect amount of dry hoppines, sweet pilsner malt, light crisp apple and pear, straw and glass notes. Another nice offering from Boulevard and an excellent interpretation of the style.
