3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle from SoHo Organic Market, Elizabeth City, NC. Yellowish-orange pour with a frothy white head. Aroma of pine, grapefruit, and mango with mild toasted malts. Flavor is good with mild hop bitterness and well balanced flavors. In fact, my complaint with this is that the flavors are perhaps a bit too balanced and this comes off more as a pale ale than a session IPA. Good beer all the same.

4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
UPDATED: APR 13, 2015 Boulevard Pop-Up has established a reputation for being one of the best Session IPA’s out there. After having it, I’m inclined to agree. Dry-hopping has given this beer an alluring floral aroma that pairs beautifully with the bready malt smells. If it wasn’t for that tropical hop aroma, you’d think you had dunked your nose into a glass of wheat ale. Thanks to a big, pillowy head, you’ll have an excellent chance to enjoy the hoppy aromas. The taste is out of this world. The dense malt tones down the bitterness of the Centennial, Cascade, and Amarillo hops which are often quite aggressive. This allows the stronger hops to impart a citrusy flavor that points to lemon. For the sweeter Citra hops, the malt creates an orange cream flavor that is amazing. Perhaps the only thing I’d change is the carbonation. It’s just a bit too strong but is otherwise cleansing and refreshing. In the end, this isn’t just one of the best Session IPA’s in the states, it’s one of Boulevard’s all-time best ales, in my opinion.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
translucent amber, thin white ring with mild lacing. Spicy grain nose, waxy plastic and husky with moderate banana esters, slightest paint thinner. Flavor lightly richer, lemon pine sol up front with stronger grain dough flavor, tons of bread before thin, lightly spicy finish.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Good and very drinkable. Fresh as it was at the brewery. Nice citrus hop aroma. Clear golden color and lighter than most IPA’s. Crisp clean palate with loads of carbonation. Almost a dry finish. Hops are predominant here but the pale malts leave an impression, which is enough to balance the beer. Refreshing and a good choice for warmer weather.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. bottle from The Wine and Cheese Place, thanks to my brother picking it up for me. Pours a somewhat clouded gold with a finger of white head that settles into a bit of film and a ring, along with some patches of lace. Aroma of grass, straw, pine, light florals and citrus, pale malts - very clean and bright. Flavor of florals, tea, lemon, straw, grass, pale malts, minerals, and dry grains. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and an extremely clean mouthfeel. Very, very easy to drink. Would be nice in cans.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a hazy deep yellow color with a modest, white head that falls to a light filmy presence around the rim. Aroma has light orange Cascade citrus notes, just a touch of grassy and a light malt sweetness at the finish. Flavor starts off with a very light orange flavor and quickly moves to a light malt sweetness. The flavor as a whole is very watered down. Body is light with a light crisp and watery feel to it. Overall it’s an okay brew but falls a bit short as the body doesn’t hold the hops as well as I would of expected. Props to them for brewing the session brew.
