COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The French-speaking region of southern Belgium is the birthplace of saison, the love child of a centuries-old tradition of small rural "farmhouse" breweries, where native yeasts and time-honored recipes combined to produce some of the world’s most distinctive beers. As a tribute to this artisanal institution, we offer our own brisk, unruly Saison. Truly an artful balancing act, it is both rustic and subtle, robust yet effervescent, spicy and fruity.

Not too Bad... I am starting to realize that I might like this style of beer too much. Hazy Yellow with some head. Nice finish and medium body. Flavor was banana and clove and some other stuff. Food Pairing: Lobster Mac N’ Cheese with a Mascarpone cheese sauce. "

Sparkling clear pour, amazing head, incredible effervescence. Nose is all hay, horse, and soft fruitiness and sugar. Wet hay slight sourness in the flavor, with slight peach and some wonderful stringy acidity. Starchy, sourdough & honey flavors. Great body, neither too slim nor thick. Great conditioning. Soft and pillowy but with a little stoniness. Thanks to milljam.

750mL bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a clear pale yellow with tons of bubbles streaming to the top and feeding a massive fluffy white head that leaves great lacing and stays on as a cap for the duration. The aroma is a mix of sweet and spicy. It’s got a huge sweet yeast aroma that has plenty of earthy spice notes. In addition, there is a clean lemony hop aroma that mixes in well. The lemons open up the taste with a slight tartness that gives way to tons of light fruit, apples and pears especially, and a heavy yeast backbone. The finish brings the spiciness back which lingers in the finish. The mouthfeel is massively carbonation and very lively on the tongue from start to finish. A great saison from Boulevard and one that would be even better if the carbonation were dialed down just a tad.

750ml corked bottle. Belgian-style conditioning, lots of foamy head. Thick, opaque bronze color. Rich and sweet, with some mellow earthy hops. Captures the style fairly well, but not quite exactly. Deeper and richer, more malty I suppose. Thick and yeasty, this is still a world-class beer. Soapy, bitter, earthy hop aftertaste, delightfully mellow. Worth seeking out.

From a 750 this poured a cloudy gold with big fat white head. Nosei of citrus. Good rich mouthfeel. Flavor complex with citrus, wheat, yeast, and herbal hops. Dry finish. Very good beer.

When this one came out I was skeptical, more skeptical than of any of the other beers in the Smokestack series, it seemed too clean... too sweet... not spicy enough. I don’t know if it was me, or if it was the first batch we got here in Iowa but the bottle I had this evening was really none of these things. The beer pours a cloudy blonde with a big fluffy white head and a lot of very good lace. The aroma is spicy with some good fruit notes, some sweet bread dough, and a nice little hoppyness. The flavor is very dry and the beer is a little clean for the style but nothing unforgivable, the spiciness is very prevalent and there is a nice bitter hoppiness with some great citrus notes. A very well rounded saison.
