4.1 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 MrRain (472) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - JAN 31, 2009
750ml botte poured into a Trappist glass. This beer pours a beautiful light hay color with a nice large head that lingers and leaves nice lacing. The aroma is very fruity with hay, grapefruit and lemon. The flavor is a bit disappointing based on the aroma. It is nice, fresh and full of grass flavors but all in all a bit muted. The body is dry and crisp with a quick finish.

Bottle thanks to beastiefan2k, thanks Eugene. Huge pop of the cork upon opening, very effervescent. Pours a hazy golden with a very big white head that lasts and lasts. Aroma is earthy, spicy, pepper, citrus. Flavor is earthy light barnyard funkiness, malt, spicy, coriander and finishes quite dry. This is a very nice Saison, I wish this was available in Los Angeles.

Crushed with Jakebra. Decent saison, but NOT funky enough by far. Pleasant, smooth, dry, but no hay or poop. C’mon, you can do better.

Great cloudy yellow color, slight bitterness, easy to drink, but seems a bit unbalanced by the weak ending.

Reviewed 1/5/2009 (bottle batch#S8228):
Pours a nearly crystal clear yellow colored body, lots of fizziness. Big white head, lasting. Soft floral nose, but some bitter hops present too. Earthy and spicy. Some effervescence, but not a strong overall aroma. Spicy, earthy taste. Clean nutty aftertaste. Floral taste, some bitterness but not very hoppy. Sweet tasting. Carbonated soft mouthfeel. Very tasty. Some fruitiness, a little heavier than pear and apple, but not like plum or dark fruit. Almost peppery aftertaste. Light tasting, not heavy, easy to drink.

Bottle from BMan1113VR. Thanks Andrew! Pours light golden with a small white head. Nose is dry, yeasty, light pepper. Flavor is similar and a real pleasure to drink. I think I was in the minority at our tasting, but I really dug on this beer. Excellent American interpretation.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 ryanknock (150) - San Francisco, California, USA - JAN 15, 2009
Refreshing and zesty Saison. Quite hoppy and more American interpretation, lacking lots of the peppery and farmhouse aspects, rather focusing on the fruity pear-apple esters and lemony-citrus aspects. Light graininess and grassiness throughout, with a slight bitterness at the finish. Very enjoyable.
