Pours a hazy golden straw color with a large white head. The aroma is a mix of yeast with some citrus, mainly oranges and lemons. The flavor is similar with a slight funk mixed in with the citrus and yeast. Dry finish. Thin body and medium carbonation.

750 ml bottle likely from mreusch. Thanks, Matt! My Smokestack journey continues! Pours a lightly hazed lively golden hue, well carbonated and bubbly with a pretty big bubbly bright white head, this dies to a decent layer, laces pretty well, the head is key, making this quite the beautiful brew. Aromas are citrus fruits and pear, very fruity edging towards a light tartness with lemon rind, faint banana, some earthy hops come into play and a decent sweet maltiness that is grainy, a touch of honey, and very fruity. Initial is fairly light bodied, with a lively fruitiness and fizzy body, delicate, the beer coats the palate with light pear and apple, a touch of banana, and protected citrus fruits leading into grainy malts, honey, a faint cooling vanilla. Lightly hopped, the earthiness of the hops make it a decent bitterness without invading too deeply, letting the smooth, fruity beer do the work. The spice, not to be shooed away, works the palate, providing a decent yeastiness, light bitterness, and a type of balance, dryness comes in. This is a very nice Saison, capable of everyday drinking, with a touch of orange tucked away and mellow spices. I hear this is done with though, with Tank 7 replacing it.. I’d admit, I did like Tank 7 more. Cheers!
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 sebletitje (4011) - Enghien, BELGIUM - JAN 12, 2010
batch#S8060
pours golden, white head
aroma, yeasty, lemon, brett, some citrus and grainy; wheat notes.
flavor, Belgian yeast impression with brett, light bitterness with some fruits, mild spices, med-high carbonation. Mouthfeel keeps a certain citrus approach and an overall bitter sweetness for a great balance between the hops and yeast spices.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 FOAMer (45) - Bartlesville, Oklahoma, USA - JAN 10, 2010
750 ml bottle. Pours with a very tall pale white head that clings to the sides of the glass. Golden straw color with a slight haze from yeast in the bottle. Not as dry as I would like in a saison but with a light spicy character that finishes quite nice. Hop bitterness is light with little in the aroma. Spicy tones with some oxidation in the aroma. The oxidation does not come though so much in the flavor.
Over all a very nice beer to enjoy with a freind.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 nickd717 (3242) - San Francisco, California, USA - JAN 2, 2010
750ml bottle picked up at Argonaut Wine & Liquor in Denver during GABF. Shared with Sandstone from BA and each of our girlfriends on New Years Eve. Big props to these two awesome ladies for putting up with our ridiculous beer obsessions. Pours a hazy golden color with a large, lasting, foamy white head. Aroma is yeasty with pale malt, citrus, floral hops, and spices. Flavor is also very yeasty, similar to Saison - Brett in a way, but lacking the brett obviously. Pale malt, herbal notes, floral hops, lemon and orange zest, and spice, maybe a little pepper. Dry and medium-light on the palate with fairly prickly carbonation. Crisp and refreshing, and very drinkable. Overall this is a very good saison.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 drpimento (1695) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 30, 2009
Pretty darn good effort at a saison. Approaches the Belgians. Poured with a nice large off white foamy frothy head and lots of lace. Color was a light, slightly hazy amber. Aroma was malty, lemon, a little sweet tart. Great body and carbonation. Real easy drinking beer. Finish is good. Not quite as complex as the better Belgians, but pretty good.

This is the latest in my Saison adventure. It reminds me of the Le Merle I like. Pour orange with a fluffy head. It tastes of citrus and spices but seems less harsh than Le Merle. It’s a good Saison and I’m already looking for my next.
