holdenn (1199), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 8, 2008 750 ml bottle from Mass Beverages in Lawrence. This is the only bottle I brought back from KS, so I’m hoping its good. Pours a cloudy yellow with a white soapy head that laces down. After having the LA Carnevale, I can see how straightforward of a Saison this is. Sweet malts and yeast with citrus and a touch of toffee and biscuits. Spritzy and lively carbonation. Sweet pale malt flavors. Hay citrus, earthy, herbal notes. Finishes with herbal dry hops. A tasty and drinkable Saison. I could put a few of these away pretty easily.
amishcaravan (225), Winona, Minnesota, USA Nov 29, 2008 strong nose of lemon or orange peels. this is a great beer. very smooth with fruit tones in the finish. if not for the price I would probably purchase again. IlanMan (632), Winona, Minnesota, USA Nov 29, 2008 Bottle: Hazy light golden pour with a foamy white head. Aroma of a lot of floral yeast, sweet light malt, a hint of honey, and a bit of orange zest. Flavor is lightly sweet with a lightly spicey yeast, light hints of honey. Finishes with some wheat and a hint of bitterness. Very well blended brew. durhambeer (619), Durham, USA Nov 29, 2008 Bottle thanks to Eugene. Fairly typical American-made saison, but a very good one. Bright deep golden pour with big fluffy white head. Citrus and mild spice. Nice yeasty taste. Some wheatiness and citrus zest. Very drinkable. Not quite as crisp/dry as I would have liked. Great palate. A very solid brew. I could drink this all summer. thejoeshow (167), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Nov 27, 2008 750ml bottle. Pours a very pale/straw yellow color with a very effervescent and frothy white head that has decent retention and lacing. Aroma is light and citrusy, not a hop citrus, more of a lemon zest citrus. There is also a nice wheat character in the nose as well. Flavor is very nice, easy and light. There are hints of wheat and lemon zest, not too far off from a wit. It is very easy on the palate and very sessionable. It has a drawn out finish that leaves a nice taste in the back of your mouth. This is a beer that you could drink the entire 750 no problem. JMerritt (1120), Macomb, Illinois, USA Nov 26, 2008 Fairly clear, golden in color with a large, frothy bright-white head. The head is think and long-lasting, leaving sticky, egg-white lacing. Mild floral aroma - honey, sweet straw, biscuits, a bit of dried fruit and alcohol. Malty, mildly bitter, mildly sour flavor, a decent amount of chewy wheat and clover flowers. Bitter finish. Fantastic carbonation level, perfect for style.
