4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Perkeo (321) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 19, 2010
Amazingly pleasant beer. Just perfect munich malt flavor. A little something by way of the cedar. Conditioning and fresh flavor is immaculate; to conclude any less shows a lack of perspective at the very least!

On tap (and I’ve also had one out of the barrel, unfiltered) at the brewery. I could leave my rating at "wow, that’s nice" but it wouldn’t do justice. Sweet, great mouthfeel, and malty like the day is long. Well balanced all around. All that, and what a great name to pay tribute to the -ator part of dopplebock tradition! Nicely done. This is one I’ll wait around for.

Aroma is sweet grains and fermented fruit. Pours a lovely reddish-brown. The taste is malty, with a cedar aftertaste. Very unique, flavorful, and well balanced beer.

22 ounce bomber. I really like the style of Boulevard’s Smokestack Series, as the beer almost looks like a wine bottle. Poured into a basic goblet. Color is a rich and dark red mahogany, with a small fizzy head. Smell is spicy, almost like cinnamon, with a moderate amount of dark brown sugar sweetness. Malt hits you first, with caramel and toffee up front. Some hints of dark fruit as well, and lots of earthy, woodsy, character. You can really taste the cedar in this. Reminds me of a good single malt, honestly. There’s more cinnamon in the finish along with a moderate amount of alcohol as it goes down. Clean and spicy finish. I’m actually pairing this with a Mac and (Beer) Cheese soup, and they’re actually quite nice together. However, there’s no doubt that this would be a great beer on its own. Really nothing to complain about with this one.
4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 KCBrown (20) - Missouri, USA - DEC 27, 2009
Great brew. Enough as been said about all the elements of this beer. Personally I enjoyed this beer about as much as any I ever have. It is a clean, well finishing brew.

750 bomber. About a year if aging. Dark iced tea pour with quick head and Antioch of lacing. Nose is a boatload of malty, sweety, toffee goodness. Taste follows the nose but with a touch of spice. A tad bit of heat that I wasn’t really expecting. Would really like a couple more of these.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 freeofthoughts (269) - Raytown, Missouri, USA - FEB 5, 2012
2010 pours dark copper with a little khaki head. Nose is big with some booze dark fruit and grain. The taste is also big with the alc prominent and a fight between the grain and the spicey piney cedar. The hops are light but make the brew nice with a bit of dry balance. There is an earthy quality to it and a familiar German doppelbock taste if you look for it. The palate is creamy and pretty smooth, this is very enjoyable, I hope boulevard decides to make this again.

Tasted from a bottle at the Parade of Darks in Denver, Colorado. Dark burnt orange/brown appearance with a pretty creamy head. Great Bock aroma. Sweet, dark malty flavor with that trademark Bock flavor. Finish is a little sweeter than German doppelbocks but this is still one of the best American doppelbocks.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 zombywoof (419) - Shawnee, Kansas, USA - DEC 13, 2010
Sweet malty bock with a light wood and floral notes. Light spicy quality to aroma. Not overly sweet-big plus for me.

Man, it is hard to find this beer in the database, because of the misspelled "lator." Had at PP Strong Ale Fest 2009. Nice malty sweet. A little buttery barrel aged aroma. Maybe some belgian yeast aroma. Very nice
