4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 c&c from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark brown with a 5 finger foamy/frothy tan head. Aroma (through lots of head) is sour and dark. Med + body. Flavor is dark malt, wood and some seriously sour fruit. This is not vinegar sour. It’s dark fruit bretty. No cherry here. Apparently no fruit of any kind here, but I guess it’s the Goldings. When the foam is gone the aroma is quite earthy/sour, and the flavor generates a hint of chocolate - but it finishes earthy/sour. Mouth fatigue means not so sour as the start, but sour. This is a rather elegant ale, and if popular wines were earthy, this would be a fitting alternative. Ain’t the way of the world. tho.

Bottle from systembolaget. Strong, deep and a complex smell with some fruits, berries and raisins. Pours solid brown almost black with a creamy beige head. Taste is more bland than smell, and it is very nice and fresh. Thin and nice palate not very full. A surprisingly nice and fresh beer.

With Zach watching the MC vs Olypiacos soccer game, pours a dark pitched brownish black pour with a huge java wispy colored head. Nose is tart and sour with some grainy notes. Taste is tart and sour, but not overwhelmingly so, grainy and yeasty ! Finishes on the same tasting notes with a moderately long sour yeasty alcoholic finish. Quaff Score 7 / 10

Impressive. A mix of fruit esters, sour, spice and liquor aromas. Rich colors of amber and brandy. Smooth and somewhat dry palate with a full mouthfeel. Flavors were concentrated and mixed. Oak, spice, subtle sour fruits and just a hint of bourbon. Very complex.

Appearance: Black color with a creamy beige head. Ok lacing.
Aroma: Mild roasted malt, coffee and some chocolate.
Palate: Medium body. Balanced mild sweet and an ok bitterness. Soft carbonation. Creamy texture.
Taste: Mild chocolate, some coffee, yeast, mild oak and roasty.
Overall impression: A really pleasant, tasty and fresh wild stout. I only feel that the body could have been a bit better. Felt a bit thin.
Personal stats: Bottle from a trade with Inbreak.
