COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Boulevard Single-Wide I.P.A. is our take on a style that originated in 18th century Great Britain. This American version—inspired by our Smokestack Series Double-Wide I.P.A.—boasts a heady combination of six varieties of hops, some of which were employed for dry-hopping.

Bottle. Caramel malt and pineapple/grapefruit hops aroma. Hazy golden with a moderate white head. Citrus, grapefruit, grassy hops and light wheat malt flavor. Light to medium body and carbonation. Solid, but I’d like it even better if it were a little more malt forward.

I came across this last summer. Its a good camp fire brew or a good fresh cut grass beer.

UPDATED: JUN 18, 2012 Pours yellow and slightly cloudy with a lot of fluffy white head. Smells quite hoppy, with plenty of pine and citrus. Taste follows the smell, a dry finishing hoppy and pine/citrus flavor, light malts.

UPDATED: APR 10, 2015 Re-rate June 14, 2012 after having this again at a special Boulevard beer event at Caldone’s in Joplin: This beer has an enormous head, unequivocally foamy and thick. Upon a fast pour, the head takes up around two finger lengths with the golden colored bottom barely distinguishable. It nonetheless dissipates fairly quickly to about a finger length, where it lingers nicely for several minutes, leaving a lot of lacing. The scent, meanwhile, is surprisingly mild for an IPA with citrus/pine most evident. It gives an idea that this won’t be among the more "astonishing" IPAs, but more of a sessionable kind. The first sip or two always remind me of the resinous Ranger IPA initially, but the Boulevard Single Wide IPA ends up being less intense in pine bitterness, excelling more with other citrus hops. It’s also a malt affair, particularly in the final flavors (not that there is no bitterness whatsoever in the end notes - no one would be confused about this being an IPA - just that the malt really stands out as well - very well-balanced). I’d classify this as medium-bodied. The ABV is relatively low for an IPA (5.7%), which contributes to its sessionability as much as its overall taste profile does. Really love this one - can drink this easily while still enjoying the hop notes. UPDATE: Some recent batches of this haven’t been quite as strong. Downrating slightly. ANOTHER UPDATE: Keeps getting weaker. Now just another good IPA.

Honestly, I think this is better than the double wide and much more sessionable. This was my go-to beer at the bottleneck in Lawrence. A bit watery with a light medium body. The hops were on the discreet side, but still a fan favorite.

Yellow-orange...tightly foamed, tall white head (2 pours into tulip) Aroma is very hoppy, grapefruit, pine. Taste is surprisingly dull compared to scent. plenty of hop bitter....but no "sting". Like drinking bitter flowers. Really disappointing, watery and run of the mill....

A decent IPA, but nothing to write home about. Not quite as good as their doublewide

Poured from bottle. Bright orange with a ton of white head. Smells awesome, fruity and floral and mild hops. Taste is not too hoppy but good, pine, citrius, and wood. Would have this again for sure, easy drinking and not strong.

Grapefruit, mild malt and lemon aroma. Golden with white head and mild lacing. Grapefruit, citurs, and mild malt flavours. High hop bitterness front to back; unbalanced.

12oz bottle poured into tulip glass. Best by date of 5/21/12 Aroma: light aroma but sweet and floral. bit of grapefruit Appearance: 3 finger head. golden and clear. frothy head that lingered. laces glass beautifully. Taste: medium sweet and medium bitter at first with the bitterness lingering. the bitterness is not overpowering. maybe too much sourness in the grapefruit on the aftertaste Palate: medium body and thin texture. very fizzy carbonation and mildy bitter finish. Overall: very good IPA. would prefer a bit more sweet and floral hops but the bitter is just right on this one. very crisp and refreshing.
