Boulevard Single-Wide I.P.A. is our take on a style that originated in 18th century Great Britain. This American version—inspired by our Smokestack Series Double-Wide I.P.A.—boasts a heady combination of six varieties of hops, some of which were employed for dry-hopping.

Bottle. Pours a hazy, light orange color with a thin off white head. Fresh grapefruit aroma. Combination of tart citrus and light floral flavor is balanced nicely with a dry, malty finsh. One of the smoother IPA’s I’ve had.

Fest sample. Poured hazy golden color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy complex hop and light malt aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a moderate to heavy bitter finish of medium duration. Good complex brew.

Bottle- Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a good billowy head. The aroma is that of citrus and pine. the taste started with a light citrus and continued to a slight bitterness. It has a nice medium body with a nice balanced feel with a dry finish. This brew is much better than I expected. Another solid brew from Boulevard.

12 oz bottle into a SA pint glass. Got this courtesy of a trade with wnoble. "Best by" date was 1/2/11. Poured a cloudy amber/gold with a two-finger head that quickly settled into a coating. Lacing was light. Nose was lemon, orange, and grapefruit with some grassiness. Taste had a nice hop bite but pretty well balanced or even on the sweet side, Prevalent were grapefruit, lemon, orange, pine and some sweet caramel malt. Finish was moderately dry. Mouthfeel was medium, creamy and with a decent amount of carbonation.

12 oz. twist-top bottle from HyVee, Storm Lake, IA. Pours a darker amber color than the usual orangey IPA. Light smell of American Pale Ale hops. The same hops come out in the taste. Malts are not prominent, they’ve just let the hops be in charge here. Strong note of pine, maybe a little grapefruit. I also catch some German and English style bitterness. Just enough hops to stand ahead of the malts. malt itself is sweet, clingy, even a little chewy.

A very drinkable IPA for those who are not a huge fan of the style. Pours a hazy yellow color with a small head that diminnishes quickly. Subtle flavors of grapefruit and a little lemon flavor are left on the pallet. Not a bad beer.

I am not an IPA fan, nor do I like much of anything with a bitter taste; however, this IPA is not overpoweringly hoppy and not quite as bitter as some i’ve tried before. The aftertaste is not quite as harsh as others that I’ve had. I would probably like this beer with the right foods.

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2010 Pours slightly cloudy, amber with a moderate head. Lacing is medium, foamy. Nose is slightly citrus and has hints of caramel. Mouthfeel is medium, the carbonation likewise, with a hint of sweetness and a moderate dose of bitter. Finishes pretty clean with only a lingering bitterness. Pretty decent IPA.

Smells nice and fruity / citrusy. Tastes a lot different - almost sour like some fruit juice that’s been warmed / left out too long instead of just a pure hoppy taste. Nice texture and plenty of carbonation. Not a bad beer - but there’s definitely not enough of the good stuff and I notice a little too much of the rough spots to make it entirely enjoyable.
