COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Do you know what dwells in a glass?" asks Ole, in Hans Christian Andersen’s The Watchman of the Tower. Better known for stories such as The Little Mermaid, Andersen wrote this short, cautionary tale for a somewhat older audience. Our quadrupel ale, also meant for the mature connoisseur, is a deep and mysterious libation, dark auburn and full-bodied, its sweetness deceptive. As Ole describes the glasses in turn, their contents become more ominous until, in the sixth glass...

Bottle. Nice beer. Dark amber brown pour with nice beige head. Quite yeasty aroma with sweet malt and maybe a trace of licorice? Nice bite on the tongue with good caramel, yeast balance with a nice alcohol finish.... a little light on the malt, wasn’t quite as full as many quads....

Bottle. Hazy reddish colour with a nice head. Ugly aroma of yeast-bite and little licorice, Nice flavour of sweet matl, yeast and little caramel and end with a noteable alcoholic finish. Much better flavour than the aroma.

Bottle thanks to csbosox: Pours a transparent copper amber with a spotty-lacing airy off-white head. Aroma of sweet dark caramel malts and some brown sugar with nice bready Belgian yeasty complexity. Body starts with good fullness and sweet caramel malty flavor before a drier, slightly toasty doughy finish. Has a little warmth and some fruity estery complexity. An enjoyable and true to style Quad.

Poured a hazy orange color with an off-white head. Yeasty and sweet aroma and flavor. Dark fruits, caramel and chocolate. Warming in the chest but no alcohol taste. Good stuff. I’m glad I have another bottle.

Bottle: The aroma consists of plums, raisins, yeast, grapes, and faint alcohol. It pours a cloudy dull orange with a small off-white head. The flavor starts with plum, yeast, faint grape, and caramel. There is some faint chocolate in the background. There is some faint alcohol in the finish. Medium bodied with light carbonation.

Thanks for sharing a bottle, iowaherkeye. The murky dark copper and brown body is topped with a khaki head. The aroma was pears and cinnamon. There was also some earthy sweat and mushrooms. The taste was strong with the candi sugar and pear core. A rich, creamy cody makes this smooth with a nice cinnamon character throughout. A nice quad.

Mildly dark with a bit too much head. Fruity taste -- maybe some citrus and a bit of sweetness. Heavy alcohol.

750ml bottle. Copper color. Thin off-white head. Aroma of raisin, malt. Flavor is a bit tart. Like an apple juice. A little off balance, but a decent Quad.
