tjthresh (1348), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Dec 3, 2006 Updated: Apr 16, 2008 750 ml corked and caged bottle. Batch number 67283. Hazy brown with some red or purpleish hues. Short lived fizzy tan head. 1 pt bump. I smell cooked sugars, cherry cola, plum, and fruity esters. 2 pt bump. Flavor is quite a bit more complex than I remember a year ago. Dried and sugared raisin, dates, and even banana chips. Somebody over cooked the sugar though. Oh well, still yummy. No bump. Not as big and chewy as I remember, yet still plenty of body. Highly carbonated. Semi sweet finish. 1 pt bump. Wow. What a difference a year makes. I point bump over all. I think with age, this beer gets even better.

Sampled at the Power Plant Strong Ale Fest. Murky light brown with a tan head. Big banana and bubble gum aromas. Some dark sugars and toffee as well. Sweet with some nutty character. Some banana carries over from the aroma. Caramalt character. Big body.
DA (2586), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Dec 1, 2008 Lighter amber/orange pour with a tall white head. Much lighter then I was expecting. Lots of fruit sweetness. Citrus, apricots, dry sweetness of fig. Dry finish with a nice carbonation to it that brought out a bit of spiciness. Soonah (531), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Dec 1, 2008 The pour was dark brown with auburn highlights. A compact off-white head produced some nice lacing. The aroma was malt, raisin, figs and some unchecked alcohol. The flavor was slightly smoky, malt, raisin and alcohol. The mouthfeel was average, carbonation was almost too tight. golubj (1085), Redwood City, California, USA Nov 30, 2008 bottle. orangey-brown pour with beige head. aroma is sugary malt, pit fruit, raisens, and chocolate. flavor is the same, sweet chocolate, pit fruit, sugar. amishcaravan (225), Winona, Minnesota, USA Nov 30, 2008 scent of raisens and fermented fruit. nice alcohol is not very well hidden but it does taste pretty good. IlanMan (632), Winona, Minnesota, USA Nov 29, 2008 Bottle: Pour is deep hazy amber with a creamy light tan head. Aroma is deep sweet malt with yeast and light caramel.
