hopscotch (4358), Vero Beach, Florida, USA May 3, 2008 Bottle... DLD’06... Hazy burnt orange ale with a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. Excellent retention. The aroma is full of fruity, Belgian yeast esters and phenols with prominent golden raisins, apples and plums. Full-bodied and syrupy with lively carbonation. Sweet and fruity with low bitterness. Red hot, sweet, malty finish.
Crosling (1587), Loveland, Colorado, USA Jul 5, 2008 Perfect appearence. Deep ruby color with a full, long lasting head of a light tan. Fairly nice nose, with a lot of Belgian character. Plentiful dark fruits (cherries, dates, plums,) and a touch of alcohol. Flavor is loaded with tons of depth. Deep caramel and honey glaze, with dark fruits. It’s a really nice beer and very Belgian. I think this series from Boulevard shows their brewing skill. brewblackhole (1214), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA Jul 5, 2008 Bright, fresh ,multifruit ester aroma, banana, apricot, and brown sugar dominating, taste is much more baked caramel, cola, and alcohol with those fruit esters, becoming almost invisible, wish those esters were a little more evident in flavor. Still an enjoyable Quad, and this brew will drop kick you into Oz, Don’t drink it when your extremely thirsty like I did. moelikebeer (72), New Brighton, Minnesota, USA Jun 30, 2008 Bottle. Opaque, light brown pour with medium head. Aroma of belgian yeast, sweet malt, brown sugar. Similar flavor with notes of dark fruit. swanmann (232), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Jun 26, 2008 The bottle poured dark caramel color with no light penetration, and fluffy tan head. Settles with no lacing. Intense sweet aroma of brown sugar and banana with undertones of burnt hardwood. The flavor is sweet down the middle with spice in the cheeks, like cinnamon. Tart and full bodied, this beer almost needs a companion, like carrot cake. It’s delicious, but this is all about the sugars, no hops to finish, at least that I detect. It’s an elixir. blankboy (2464), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 26, 2008 Bottle (750ml) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, tupalev & jerc -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Batch #67334. Pours a hazy orange-brown with an average size lasting frothy off-white head. Strong aroma of alcohol, spices, yeast, fruit and sugar. Flavour of sweet malt and fruit along with alcohol, yeast, sugar and caramel. Medium to full bodied, sticky mouthfeel. This is relatively well done, and I don’t mind it, but it’s not really my thing -- too boozy and sugary.
