COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Do you know what dwells in a glass?" asks Ole, in Hans Christian Andersen’s The Watchman of the Tower. Better known for stories such as The Little Mermaid, Andersen wrote this short, cautionary tale for a somewhat older audience. Our quadrupel ale, also meant for the mature connoisseur, is a deep and mysterious libation, dark auburn and full-bodied, its sweetness deceptive. As Ole describes the glasses in turn, their contents become more ominous until, in the sixth glass...

light copper brown, very light for a quad, a huge head of about right fingers of light tope head stays forever, good lace... weak nose, I get lots of raisins and dark fruits, a touch of spice and alcohol, candy sugar middle, pretty nice overall, balanced... the taste is a bit alcoholic with a big spicy bites but still one of the better American quads but with R10 readily available not sure why I’d have again

Bottle from my brother-in-law Nick, thanks bud. Pours reddish amber with a thin, dense tan head. Nose is figs, raisins, chestnut, bread malts. More of the same once on the palate as esters, boozy sweet malts and dark fruits dominate this solid quad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a amber brown with a 1 finger head that lasts into my ccb snifter. Aroma of fruity figs and raisins, bready malts with a heavy yeasty nose. Taste follows the nose with sweet fruits, malts and yeast. Alcohol is present more than other quads but still fairly smooth. I would love to try this in a corked and caged 750, bottle conditioning in a larger bottle makes a big difference.

Lukaduke (118) - Portland, Maine, USA - MAY 20, 2012
Pours an hazy auburn brown with a 1 finger tan head than dissipates quickly. Aromas of sweet malts, bit of fruity esters and a touch of woody oak. Full mouthfeel and full flavored with a great balance between earthy and fruity chracteristics wrapped up with a large backbone of caramel and a slight cola roundness. Fruit flavors are straight fig and prune with a whiff of ripe cherry. Earth notes are woody, sweet hay and a little bit of black tea on the finish... Dangerously Tasty !

12oz bottle, best by 7/27/13. Pours a cloudy amber with a big fluffy off white head that retains well and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is sweet caramel malts, dark fruit, wood and some alcohol. It’s a little subdued.

The flavor is sweet toasted caramel malts with dark fruits and a dry light bitter alcohol finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, an OK quad. It’s kind of sweet with rather sharp alcohol.

Fruity, potent alcohol burn (ABV is in excess of 10%, after all), malty, spicy, and clove-like. Lots going on here, obviously! Boulevard does so well with their Belgian styles. I wish my area (southwestern Missouri) had more quads available to try - if they are anything as good as this, I certainly would like to see more.

Pours golden amber with plenty of cream colored head. Smells of yeast caramel raisins and a bit of spice. Taste is about the same.

Hazy red-brown beer. Short lived tan head. Toffee nose. Softish palate but with a small carbonated kick. Sweet malt with some spicy bubblegum. Nice but doesn’t hide the abv too well, warming aniseed alcohol in the finish. Tasty but a bit warm.
