2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
From the Thanksgiving Day Massacre, 2013. Pours a pretty cool looking amber-garnet with a thick khaki head that leaves some dripping lace. Nose involves intense cherry aromas, molasses, a whole fruitcake melange of dates, figs, and plums, some vanilla ice cream, and hardly any noticeable bourbon notes. Very, very sweet flavor, with hardly any balancing bitterness, and a dash of tartness. Thick, heavy body, fairly carbed, with a long tart and grainy drying finish. I was roundly disappointed with this, mostly perhaps due to my own expectations going into it, but regardless it was way too sweet and completely lacked bourbon character, which I don’t need to be hit over the head with per se, but I would like to show up in some noticeable amount. Maybe it’s the whole "BBQ" thing, but I would have killed for an underlying smoke element in this. Instead, it just became a cherry cough syrup bomb.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2013 bottle. Light, airy, bourbon aroma with caramel and maybe carrots. Pours clear peachy amber. Sweet, hot bourbon flavor tempered by the right amount of sour mash. Light caramel malt and a touch of rye. Probably my favorite Boulevard.

3.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured a dark honey-gold with a generous, off-white head. The aroma hits a little of everything - malts, alcohol, fruit (cherries?), bread - but all of this is sort of twisted up in a strong bourbon overtone. The taste is surprisingly sweet, and for me, simply dominated by bourbon. I can sum up the taste as such - someone just unnecessarily poured a shot of Southern Comfort into my quadrupel. I can appreciate it, I suppose, but it’s not my thing.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 mL bottle. Part of a tasting 11/24/2013 at Fraser’s Pub in Ann Arbor. The pour is a dark brown with a thin, filmy head and minimal lace. The aroma is heavy in banana with a touch of cherry on the back end. The flavor was mentioned by the group to have smelled like Wonka Runts candy. Strange description, but very, very accurate. The flavor is cherry and incredibly yeasty. Notes of vanilla are present, presumably from the barrel. Very solid beer, with a touch of sourness in the finish

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
750 mL bottle from Total Wine, Chesapeake, VA (2013 bottle, batch 13420-1, best before August 2015). Muddy brown pour with a frothy khaki head. The tart cherry aroma is detected first but then fades to oak and bourbon leaving the tartness deep in the background. The flavor is incredible; vanilla and sherry are tasted with an undercurrent of oak and booze and underneath it all faint cherries and coffee. The end result is quite stunning but it does not resemble a quad at the end of the day. Not that I am complaining because this is barrel aging done right. World class!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Corked & Caged 750 ml Bottle. Appearance is a murky dark amber color with a substantial layer of beige foam. Aroma is dominated by cherry, oak, Belgian yeast and caramelized sugars. The flavor opens up with a shot of bourbon followed by notes of toffee, cherry, vanilla, dark fruits and candi sugars. Holding it all together is a thick and creamy body with moderate carbonation and a sinister alcohol presence lurking in the background. As expected, the bourbon barrels add a nice layer of complexity to the base beer.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cherries with alcohol and hints of spice mark the nose. A hazy reddish-amber with a rapidly disappearing tan head which provides no lacing. While the taste is overall sweet, it is rewardingly complex. Cherries, vanilla, wood, citrus, toasted grain, and hints of sourness and alcohol comprise the flavors. Medium body and medium carbonatin. Oily mouthfeel. Overall, I am not a fan of of Quads, but this beer was excellent! A sipper worth sipping again!
