Bottle. Pours an amber brown color with khaki head. Cherry, oak, sweet fruity aromas. Cherry, bourbon, malty, slight toffee flavors. One of my favorites from Boulevard. Hopefully we won’t have to wait 2 years for the next release.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma is a balanced blend of the malt, barrels and fruit. Quite a bit of caramel and toffee with hints of roast. The fruit is mostly cherry but with some figs and raisins as well. Oak is somewhat in the background with only hints of vanilla and bourbon. Some alcohol in the finish becoming more apparent as it warms.
Pours a somewhat murky light brown with some ruby notes to it. Fairly large light tan head with moderate retention that slowly recedes leaving light lacing. Medium legs.
Sweet malt upfront with lots of caramel and toffee. You pick up the cherries mid palate but it is in conjunction with the malt and it quickly fades as the bourbon and barrel qualities come into play. Some alcohol notes in the finish. Some light raisin and other dries fruit notes. The barrel quality is much stronger than in the aroma with a good bourbon note and some light, but noticeable vanilla. Light oakiness. Bitterness is medium to medium low. Finish has cherries, raisin, toffee, caramel and bourbon. The alcohol becomes more noticeable in the finish as it warms.
Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium high carbonation. Low but noticeable astringency and medium to medium high alcohol warmth.
Overall a pretty good beer. I'm not sure the age helped it at all, but sometimes you find these types of bottles hiding in the cellar. I'm doing my best to drink the odd stuff down to a minimum. It's a bit too boozy for me but the malt notes are nice and they did a good job of integrating the cherries. Still a bit hot with 2 years on it.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
This is the 2011 edition. Great blend of flavors for a Quad. It stands out among others of this style. The nose is still distinctly Belgian with strong malt and bourbon essence. Dark caramel brown color with a small head. Medium weight palate with the carbonation holding up well considering the age. Great mix of flavors with bready malts, bourbon, wood and maybe a slight tart fruit tinge. Holds up well and a good after dinner treat.

750 ml bottle to snifter (2011, shared with the Mrs.; thanks burg326). Looks good; a hazy amberish brown with off-white head that dissipates into lacing. Smells solid; dark fruit and spice with a notable barrel presence. Tastes like it smells with cherry notes and a good mouthfeel. Good beer.

This was a good beer and i liked it quite a lot. But once again the style somehow isnt for me and u can see that in the total score. typical belgian selection of tastes, fairly soft mouthfeel, quite easy to drink even with the high abv.
