COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Based loosely on the Smokestack Series’ The Sixth Glass, this abbey-style quadrupel is separated into a number of oak bourbon barrels where it ages for varying lengths of time, some for up to three years. Cherries are added to make up for the “angel’s share” of beer lost during barrel aging. Selected barrels are then blended for optimum flavor. The resulting beer retains only very subtle cherry characteristics, with toffee and vanilla notes coming to the fore.

Poured a caramel color with a 3 finger white head and lots of carbonation. Aroma was very sweet like molasses, some citrus, couldn’t smell the 11.8 abv. Taste was sweet with a little bourbon flavor and a little tartness, alcohol hidden well. Palate was pretty good, a little thinner than I expected. Overall I’m impressed with this beer. Quads are not my favorite style but this one was good.

Hints of bourbon and fruit. Cinnamon, vanilla, molasses, brown sugar. Very boozy, definitely lots of bourbon. The cherry flavor is not very pronounced.

Aromas of coconut, cherry, banana, booze. Hazy brown with a lasting white head. Boozy, fruity, rum notes, bourbon notes. Medium-full bodied.

Floral cherry aroma and some malty bourbon notes. Beige head and murky rust colored body. Bourbon cherry with some juicy banana. Juicy and smooth on the palate.

Just a small hint of cherry on the aroma and the taste. Smooth, malty, darker golden brown, very well balanced beer. A bit of bourbon in the finish.

Aroma of cinnamon, bourbon, vanilla, toasted oak, molasses, dark fruits, Belgian candi sugar and fresh apple juice. Appearance is a murky amber/copper. Taste is sweet, fresh fruit juice overtones with notes of cinnamon, molasses, candi sugar, dark fruits, plums, cherries and a big amber malt body. Finish brings big bourbon booze, vanilla, oak and subtle coconut. Overall, very nice and big sweetness with a hint of roasted espresso. Very complex and nice bourbon notes. A rating.

Bomber into a pint glass. Pours a murky medium brown, with a large khaki head that persists and leaves good lacing. Nose is very faint aroma of bourbon and vanilla. Taste is very smooth, with mild vanilla and bourbon notes on the forefront. Very well-balanced, smooth, and tasty. A very nice BB quad. Well-balanced, smooth, not harsh or hot.

Smells of bourbon and sour cherries, taste is overwhelmed by bourbon, much more than most barrel aged beers. Not my favorite, I wanted a quad that tastes like a quad. Still decent enough though.

Draft @ Tapwerks, OKC. Bourbon character aroma, but not cloying. Dark Amber color, thin white head. Nice wood flavor in taste. Cherries noticeable in aftertaste, but not too sweet. Full bodied. Pretty nice beer for a 2014 beer.

Subtle cherry on top of nice bourbon flavor layered into a great Quad. I can't wait to get another bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

bottle. murky brown/amber with small tan head. dark fruits, caramel, oak wood, lightly tart aroma. oak and strong bourbon flavors, butterscotch, cherry fruit, faintly sour. plastic band aid phenols. large bubbled annoying carbonation. kind of a jumbled mess with an unclear concept. i don’t get it. not my favorite from the smokestack series.
