One of the brightest stars in a city filled with culinary treasures, Christopher Elbow has been hand-crafting masterpieces in chocolate for more than ten years. In that time the reputation of his artistic delicacies has spread around the globe. Elbow’s sweets are distinguished by their use of unusual and sometimes surprising flavors and ingredients; in that adventurous spirit we joined forces to bring you a very special Chocolate Ale. Chocolate Ale is full of surprises, beginning with a glowing amber hue. The aroma is given over to earthy, fruity cocoa, with just a hint of hops. Smooth layers of dark chocolate intertwine with threads of caramel, vanilla, and nutty malt as the flavor warms and rounds to a bittersweet finish.

Pours hazy copper colour with a little to no head or lacing. Aroma of yohoo drink.....but it’s actually nice. Tastes of yohoo, alcohol, and a little hope bitterness. Not a bad beer.

Poured from a bottle it is a clear amber color with an off white head. The aroma is rich, complex and quite chocolatey with a light vanilla and coffee flavor. Sweet and rich

A pretty decent brew. Pours a dark, murky toffee amber with a murky body, thick beige head and a steady stream of carbonation. The aroma is rich, complex and quite chocolatey with a light vanilla and coffee note. Sweet and rich with a dessert like profile. Nutty and caramel notes and a hint of fruit with a light hop accent. Chocolate and cocoa bean notes are throughout and rich. Nicely done!

750ml corked bottle pours amber in color with a finger of off-white head that leaves a few spots of lacing on the glass. Aromas of caramel and light chocolate with some hints of vanilla. Taste is light chocolate and caramel malty sweetness with a grassy hop bitterness. Light to medium bodied with decent carbonation. Not one of my favorites from this series, disappointing.

Bottle pour copper with moderate ecru head. Nose initially earthy and mineral, then trace dry coco, followed by some caramel and sweet fruit. Taste caramel, sweet malt, fruit like apple. Chocolate seems to be faint in the aftertaste. Not what I was expecting. Tastes more like a Belgian ale with just faint chocolate overtones.

UPDATED: JUL 11, 2015 Tart green apple, honey, and wheat bread are the major aroma notes. Taste is green apple, bread, and very light cocoa. I like this beer, but it tastes like a Belgian triple with a very very light cocoa.

Bomber. Hazy caramel with a small, beige head that lasts in a ring. Aromas of caramel, coco, nuts, light spice and earthy notes. Flavor is coco, caramel, toasted malt, nuts, spice, light vanilla and dark fruit. Medium bodied, smooth with a dry, warm end.

Interesting. Pours hazy brown. Aroma is primarily chocolate. Smooth in the mouth, with a weird sour chocolate finish.
