3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 maneliquor (1711) - Perth, - JUN 23, 2012Bottle. Pours orange with a small, sticky white head which leaves nice lacing down the glass. Not what I was expecting after having the Renaissance Craftsman next to it. Sweet and subtle chocolate on the nose is masked by some herbaceous and floral tones which work in unison. Loads of toffee and chocolate mix well in the taste. Sweet vanilla comes through and almost gives it a whiskey feel to it. Nicely done

Bottle from Russell’s Liquors. Pouts brown with a thin khaki head that leaves no lacing. Faint chocolate notes on the nose. Dark chocolate notes definitely come through on the finish. Very well balanced. No alcohol burn to speak of. I wish this was bigger but it’s still pretty solid.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 ArrogantDusty (40) - Missouri, USA - FEB 19, 2013
Aroma was more subtle than I thought it would be, chocolate, vanilla, maybe a little coffee aroma in there. A nice thick tanish colored heat, huge amounts of lacing. Flavor is chocolate through and through with some vanilla in there as well.
2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 CWoodsKilla (36) - Columbia, Missouri, USA - FEB 10, 2013
Faint chocolate and hoppy aroma. Light reddish-brown color. Not very much chocolate to this beer, despite the name. Pretty standard lager flavors with a lot of carbonation. Short, bitter finish. Not very good
3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 abernaki (16) - - DEC 23, 2012
Good beer while having a subtle tastle of chocolate with a stronger chocolate smell.
2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 thedm (4783) - Fort Wayne, USA - NOV 15, 2012
This cork and caged bottled brew from a rating party poured a medium sized head of foamy tan colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a typically carbonated semi-hazy orange brown colored body and a good lacing. The mild aroma was malty orange and cocoa. The off tasting mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The soft flavor contained notes of sweet cocoa hops and malt. Not one that I would likely drink again.

750ml bottle $8.99. When i popped the cork I was amazed by the chocolate smell, so rich and yet not overly sweet. It smelled like expensive chocolates. The color was surprisingly amber and I was expecting black or brown. The flavor was more exquisite dark chocolate, very well done. Boulevard has really been impressing me with their smokestack beers and I look forward to the next one.

Amber beer out of the caged cork bottle with a fizzy ivory head. Nose of bitter baking chocolate. There is lots of bitter chocolate in here but I get a lot of cherry cordial fruitiness with some nuts and a brown sugar sweetness. Okay beer.
3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Treebs (733) - , Illinois, USA - OCT 8, 2012
750ml C&C bottle served in a tulip glass. Bottled February of 2010, best by September 2011. Little late on this one.
A: Pours a hazy brown, dark orange combination with a 2 finger off white head. Leaves some splotches of lace down the glass.
S: Some dark fruits, Belgian spicy yeast, chocolate and some oaty malts. Definitely a different combination of flavors. I was hoping for more upfront chocolate.
T: Ah, there is the chocolate I was missing from the nose. This tastes like a watered down chocolate milk (in a good way) with a faint hint of bubblegum yeast and a slight booze finish.
M: Medium bodied with a nice carbonation and a sweet chocolate finish left on the palate.
O: This was definitely different. I have a feeling that some of the chocolate notes have faded with time. Will revisit fresh.

I love this beer... Big chocolate profile, awesome aroma, and good carbonation. It's refreshing when a brewery takes chances like this to produce something unique and different in a saturated market. A hair sweeter than ideal but definitely an awesome beer.
