COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
One of the brightest stars in a city filled with culinary treasures, Christopher Elbow has been hand-crafting masterpieces in chocolate for more than ten years. In that time the reputation of his artistic delicacies has spread around the globe. Elbow’s sweets are distinguished by their use of unusual and sometimes surprising flavors and ingredients; in that adventurous spirit we joined forces to bring you a very special Chocolate Ale. Chocolate Ale is full of surprises, beginning with a glowing amber hue. The aroma is given over to earthy, fruity cocoa, with just a hint of hops. Smooth layers of dark chocolate intertwine with threads of caramel, vanilla, and nutty malt as the flavor warms and rounds to a bittersweet finish.

Bottle. Pours a murky amber with a ring of of white head. Aims and taste of spice, fruits, and a slight hint of chocolate, much less than I was expecting.

Found this at Holiday Wine Cellar for half off. Pours orange amber with a small, fizzy, white head that quickly dissipates, no lacing. Aroma is of vanilla cream soda, alcohol, slight cocoa, dark fruits(plum). The chocolate is not very pronounced in the aroma or flavor, it’s more in the background. The alcohol, vanilla, and fruity esters have a greater presence than the chocolate. Has a somewhat vinous character, slightly sour, light bitter. It’s decent enough, but would not seek it out.

Bottle. A hint of cocoa powder behind grape and unripe blackberry aromas. Almost smells like a sour. Taste is sweet with stone fruit flavors. Not what I was expecting at all but interesting.

750 ml bottle aged one year. Amazing aroma!!! Poured an unfiltered orange-amber color with a white head and decent head retention. Taste of dark fruits, nutty malt, with a boozy cocoa finish. Medium body, medium carbonation.

Mmm, not over the top on chocolate & really has a beer feeling. Has a really good pour & aroma. The taste is light & creamy w/ the chocolate as a soft undertone that really sets this beer off! Very good!

With Z, pours a dark rusty burnt orange colorwith a creamy white head. Nose is fruity sweet with vanilla and pleasant chocolate. Taste is somewhat hoppy with a mouthful of chocolate at the finish....creamy taste and flavorful. Finishes on sweet chocolate notes, very drinkable despite a very well hidden ABV. Very Nice. Quaff Score 8 / 10 ......👍

Bomber. Pours a burnt orange with a beige head and aroma of chocolate and subtle vanilla. Taste is of creamy chocolate and vanilla with caramel into the chocolately sweet finish.

An interesting beer, golden in color, fruity, chocolatey, a bit spicy, but the flavors never really come together perfectly and I’m left wanting slightly more of everything. I want to try this fresh.
