COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Neighbors for nearly twenty years, Boulevard Brewing Company and The Roasterie share a passion for making extraordinary beverages. In Coffee Ale, our two celebrated brewing traditions come together in a long-awaited collaboration. Ethiopian Sidamo from Africa’s Great Rift Valley has been carefully blended with rye, oats, and malted barley, and spiced with Perle and Styrian Golding hops. The delightfully fragrant beer presents a glowing, tawny-amber hue. The clean, crisp acidity of the air-roasted coffee mingles with malt on the palate, lingering faintly in a subtly sweet finish.

Bottle 750ml. corked @ [ Fastelavn Smagning - Carnival Tasting, Ulfborg ].

[ As Boulevard Smokestack Series - Coffee Ale ].
Clear medium brown amber color with a small to average, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, coffee, dusty coffee - coffee maker. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, coffee, dusty coffee. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20140301]

Pours a clear brown, transparent in the glass appearing deep amber, crowned by a large tanned head. Aroma is fresh, bitter coffee, malts and caramel. The coffee aromas are really nice! Taste is roasted coffee beans and a bit more moderately roasted malts. It has a subtle sweetness that is balanced nicely by the bitter coffee and roasty notes. A slight alcoholic warmth in the aftertaste, but hides the high abv very well beyond that. Body is close to full and has a creamy mouthfeel and the co2 is just on the spot, witch is just a tad above average. Probably the best non-stout coffee ale I’ve had.

Danish tasting session
Brown color, dark, with quick head. Smell of old coffee pot and spirit. Lean body, overly carbonated (possible refermentation in bottle?), dry caramel flavor with some chocolate and coffee; the closes thing to this is a coffee filled truffle; ordinary bitterness; the coffee overall provides a feeling of stale water and dust.
Far from exciting.

Bottle @ Yespr. Pours quite hazy amber with a lasting small frothy beige head. Aroma is mild coffee, caramel, bread, herbs and toasted malt. Taste is moderate sweet and light+ bitter. Body is medium, texture is light syrupy, carbonation is is moderate+, Finishes sweet with caramel and mild coffee, The coffee is nicely downplayed but I’d prefer less carbonation and sweetness.

I love coffee stouts but this is my first straight coffee ale and I was very impressed. Boulevard is really starting to impress me with this Smokestack Series. Drank this at 8am while smoking a boston butt in the winter cold beside the fire pit. Best morning ever? I want this again if I can ever find it.
