COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Neighbors for nearly twenty years, Boulevard Brewing Company and The Roasterie share a passion for making extraordinary beverages. In Coffee Ale, our two celebrated brewing traditions come together in a long-awaited collaboration. Ethiopian Sidamo from Africa’s Great Rift Valley has been carefully blended with rye, oats, and malted barley, and spiced with Perle and Styrian Golding hops. The delightfully fragrant beer presents a glowing, tawny-amber hue. The clean, crisp acidity of the air-roasted coffee mingles with malt on the palate, lingering faintly in a subtly sweet finish.

Good for what it is, but it's not for me. Gorgeous to look at, lovely to smell, gross to taste - the sensation of thick, sticky coffee syrup was too much to overcome. I get what they're trying to do, and it's probably done well, it's just not something I want. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750mL thanks to DedicatedToFun! Murky deep brown to mahogany pour. Thicker latte foam. Huge lacing. Nose is softer coffee latte, rye bread. Taste is biting, richer dark bread, whole wheat, and no green coffee. Overall pretty solid.

Tasting at Kevin’s. Malt and caramel to start with. Then the overall flavor of coffee. Light body. Nice.

750 mL bottle at home. Pours dark brown with very little light penetration, a large, frothy beige head, long retention with light lacing. Aroma is chocolate, toast and cookie malt, coffee, earthy hops, plums, figs, and dates. Flavor is spicy coffee, dark malt, moderate chocolate, dark fruits, light hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Medium to full body, medium carbonation.

Midwest Brewers Fest. Poured reddish brown with cream head. Pleasant aroma of ground coffee. Similar smooth coffee taste. I dig.

Bottle:   Deep brown, moderate frothy tannish head, spotty lacing.   Big bright coffee aroma.   Pretty simple, coffee with a bit of creamer on the nose.   Sweet and roasty coffee on the tongue.   Hard to believe this is actually 9.3%!   Very simple, but very clean and tasty.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finishes with lots of fresh coffee, a touch of creamer, with a background of lightly roasted malts.   Pure and simple a very good simple Coffee beer.   Not a Coffee infused beer, its just a Coffee beer pure and simple.   Nothing fancy, but very much a Coffee beer.   Strong, semi-sweet, with pale roastiness.   You want Coffee, get this one!

Bottle. Clear light brown pour with an off white head. Light coffee aromas. Malty with yeast, mild coffee, and roasted malt notes. Below average mouthfeel with a decent body.

750 ml bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Best by 10/13. Looks good; a fairly opaque amberish brown with off-white lacing and lively carbonation. Smells solid; rye malt, coffee, and heavy roast with some dark fruit notes. Tastes like it smells with an average (somewhat bitter) mouthfeel. Good, not great.

he flavor starts off with nice roasted coffee. Slight espresso notes. Flavorful but no too intense or overpowering. There is some nice coffee acidity to the brew as well. The malt backbone of the brew adds nice nutty notes such as some almonds and hazelnuts mixed in with slight cocoa notes and some mild caramel. The back end and middle of the brew has some nice coffee spice and acidity and there is some nice hop spice and bitterness that can be perceived as well.
