Neighbors for nearly twenty years, Boulevard Brewing Company and The Roasterie share a passion for making extraordinary beverages. In Coffee Ale, our two celebrated brewing traditions come together in a long-awaited collaboration. Ethiopian Sidamo from Africa’s Great Rift Valley has been carefully blended with rye, oats, and malted barley, and spiced with Perle and Styrian Golding hops. The delightfully fragrant beer presents a glowing, tawny-amber hue. The clean, crisp acidity of the air-roasted coffee mingles with malt on the palate, lingering faintly in a subtly sweet finish.

750 ml bottle with cork and wire cage into a shaker pint glass. Appearance: Large off white small bubble head dissipating after about a minuet with minimal effervescence . Color is a dark ruby on first pour but clouds up with sediment further down. Aroma: You guessed it, Coffee, roasty very pleasant and alcohol more pronounced as it warms. Palate: Light mouthfeel without the dark heavy feel of the familiar porter or stout with the coffee flavor pronounced but not bitter. Spices and hops well balanced. Taste: Nice medium bodied to dark coffee without bitter aftertaste of overbrewed coffee. alcohol present but not as strong as the ABV. suggests. Overall: Very good and surprising. I love a good dark stout with coffee/choclate notes, but a light bodied ale with the complex flavors of a good coffee was difficult to pull off but I believe they did a good job, Want that nice coffee note but are not in the mood for a dark heavy stout, this summertime substitute would fill the bill nicely

Backlogged rating: Plenty of coffee with a bit of walnut, mocha and bredy notes. Slight spicy hop notes. Lively and pretty crisp for a coffee ale but as expected a tad thin with the coffee. Good but got one note after a while.

Looks reddish brown i glas, with OK light brown head. Cold coffee, wood, cinema popcorn (diacetyl) in nose. Kind of chocolateish popcorn. Aroma confirmed in taste, with buttery finish Worst of the Smoke Stack Series so far - earlier tastings of the series have been more than decent.

"I’m curious what this large but easy drinking ale would be like without the coffee. You get the impression it’d be good, but it’s so coffee centric that I can’t really say. Wonderful roasted coffee aromas, good body, little heat. Nice brew. Wish list cross off."

Hazy amber color with a fine tan head. Looks nice. Ok lacing. Nice aroma for coffee lovers also. I quess this beer is nothing worth trying for those who do not like coffee. Lovely smooth coffee and nutty aroma. Solid body. Tad sweet and a fine bitterness. Balanced and nice. Soft carbonation. Lots off coffee in the flavor as well. What a surprise. Balanced with some caramel and mild nutty. Maybe a bit one dimensional. But the caramel touch gave it something extra. Lovely dessert sipper.
