Barley, wheat, rye and oats provide the foundation for this big stout. Layers of complex flavors slowly emerge from the glass: espresso, roasted fig, creme brulee. Belgian yeast provides a plum-like fruitiness, noble German hops reveal spicy, herbal notes, while the rich, velvety mouthfeel mellows to a dry, smoky finish. Such a robust beer stands well by itself, but also makes a wonderful end-note to any rich, indulgent meal. Discover the secret of combining this roasty ale to sweets, by pairing with dark chocolate or caramel, or even by pouring it over ice cream.

Pimeä totuus kaatuu totuudenmukaisesti mustana lasiin muodostaen beigen vaahdon.

Hints of drip coffee. Complex actually, yet balanced. Rye is dominant. Palate: Medium-full body, pleasant carbonation. Balanced stout.

12oz. bottle. Pours a dark mahogany with a medium sized tan head. Some faint lacing. Nose is roasted malt, coffee, bittersweet chocolate, a little vanilla. Tastes sweet with stronger bitterness. Flavor is like the nose with the addition of prune notes and hoppy bitterness that linger in addition to some ash. Medium bodied and smooth. Nice but lacking a little in body and depth.

12oz bottle pours a black color with a thick fluffy khaki head that leaves great lacing. Smells of Belgian yeast, smoked malt, chocolate, and caramel. Tastes of the same things in the smell with the smoked malt vary noticeable in the finish. Mouthfeel is thick, silky, and creamy with great carbonation. One of the best Belgian style stouts I’ve had. Very complex and balanced. Very smooth and the high abv isn’t even noticeable. Another winner in the Smokestack series.

Pours a dark brown with a foamy brown head. It dissipates quickly and leaves very little lacing. There’s an aroma of chocolate and dark fruits along with smoky wood. Chocolate, coffee, plum and cherries come through in the taste. A nicely bitter aftertaste. The alcohol begins to come through as it warms. Medium mouth with nice carbonation. There’s a lot going on here, but it all comes together nicely. I like this a lot.

A tall cookie colored frothy head floats on a black body with rich dark amber highlights, the label really nails the aroma and flavor on this one, bright citrus fruity contrasting on espresso roastiness with dried dark fruit components, dry and lean overall with a touch of dark milk chocolate gaining influence into the residual, smelling this blind I would probably guess it was a Belgian black ipa, some additional herbal aromatics and treacle flavor components as this warms, tasting it would have me confused between the previously mentioned style and a dark Belgian strong, with warmth the more obvious imperial stout characteristics assert themselves, as unique as it is enjoyable

This one of this that I can’t believe I haven’t rated, but it everywhere so I knew the time would come. Pours black with large tan head and splashy lace. Smell is molasses, cocoa, roast, booze. Taste is bigger dark fruits and yeast than the nose indicated. Definitely a Belgian stout and now I take a peek at the description to confirm. There is a slicing metallic/mineral tinge on the finish with lots plum and estery yeast. Not my favorite mix of flavors.
