COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Barley, wheat, rye and oats provide the foundation for this big stout. Layers of complex flavors slowly emerge from the glass: espresso, roasted fig, creme brulee. Belgian yeast provides a plum-like fruitiness, noble German hops reveal spicy, herbal notes, while the rich, velvety mouthfeel mellows to a dry, smoky finish. Such a robust beer stands well by itself, but also makes a wonderful end-note to any rich, indulgent meal. Discover the secret of combining this roasty ale to sweets, by pairing with dark chocolate or caramel, or even by pouring it over ice cream.

Clear, deep dark brown (black) with great densely creamy dark brown head about one finger that sticks nicely to glass’s edges while I tilt it. Looks great. Sweet and roasted with bit balancing bitterness, licorice, ripe dark fruits, chocolate, bit spicey. Lively and nuanced aroma. Full palate, soft but roasted and bitter, drier than aroma but sweet notes are here also, finish is sweet, alcohol present but under good flavors, full body, soft carbonation. Great beer, welldone all the way, looks, aroma, flavors, palate, balance, lively and lots of character, highly recommended!

Bottle from Alko Arkadia, Helsinki. A color of dark brown, nearly black, with a big brownish head. Aroma displays rich sweet maltiness: chocolate, caramel, dark plummy fruitiness with roasty notes. Taste is at first sweet and roasty, later some - but not much as in some imperial stouts - balancing bitterness. Caramel, plum and chocolaty cocoa feature in the rich taste. Drying finish with bitter notes. Thick, full body with a low carbonation. Nice dessert stout: rich and balanced. Perhaps hops could bite a bit deeper but still very enjoyable to drink.

So good. Hard to compare it. Stands out over most imperial stouts with the fig component. Simply delicious

12 oz bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Best by 12/02/15. Looks good; a dull, opaque very dark brownish black with ample foamy beige head. Smells solid; plum, dark malt, Belgian yeast, and roast. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. A little more bitterness on the mouth as well. A little thin, but good nonetheless.

Aroma of burnt coffee and dark fruit like the dumpster behind Starbucks. Dark black with a thin tan cap. Taste is akin to chocolate covered bitter fruits, and again, plenty of coffee flavor. Body is foamy as opposed to sludgey, which is a nice change of pace. Obvious power behind it, though not in your face strength. A well balanced big stout.

From a bottle. Strong, heavy taste with some bitterness and maltiness. Some hints of chocolate and licourice. Looks very good.

Bottle. Pours opaque black with a large brown head, creamy with nice lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, coffee, ashtray. Flavor is light sweet and medium bitter, roasty tobacco with notes of anise. Medium body. Pretty good overall.

I like with Boulevard they are aiming to meld a cohesive and complex vision. With Tank 7, The Sixth Glass the vision was grand and perhaps beyond their scope. But with the Dark Truth, while an interesting part to a bigger puzzle kind of misses the point. Unlike the other two this is a stout. Of course it is dark. Cocoa aroma. Laces the glass. Thin head. Bitter taste. I don’t mind it but it lacks some body. Like it could go deeper but it doesn’t. I think they should of did a barleywine or an imperial stout. Something more eye opening as the other two were way better. It kinda breaks that delicate lineage.

I love stouts and this one ranks up there with some of the best i have tried. Was hesitant to try this due to my bad experience with Smokestack series-Imperial Stout. This stout lived up to my expectations! Aromas of fruits, chocolate and expresso. A well-balanced and smooth stout....get your hands on it and try it!

Black pour with creamy brown head. Espresso and bitter chocolate on the nose. Dry roasted qualities, exceptionally smooth with little evidence of sweet higher alcs. Finish is remarkably clean, with chocolate covered coffee beans. Thick, but not viscous or cloying.
