Bottle at home. Pours black with rich, slow-receding toffee head. Aroma is mild, sharp, somewhat fruity. Less malt on the nose than expected. Flavor opens with some tart fruit, developing into some alcohol warmth. Finishes strong with notes of chocolate, coffee, and caramel. Rich mouthfeel. Vibrant and tasty.

Pours near black and opaque with a short but very durable, thick head. Good lacing.
Aroma: Coffee, dark toast, dark malts with some alcohol esters. Hints of dark fruits and toffee.
Flavor: Rich and complex, with a high load of dark roasted grains but light notes of char and smoke. Some hops kick in for the finish and aftertaste. Both medium and dark malts with some burnt toast notes. Some hints of sherry and the like from the alcohol esters, yet the high ABV is partially hidden.
Feel: very full body with medium-light carbonation The high ABV is mostly hidden. Thick and creamy smooth. Approaches 5.
O: a rich, dark imperial stout that is a bit more bitter than average.

I don’t know guys, not rolling over for this one just because it is new kid on the block over here in Ohio. It is fine: roasty, bitter, medicinal, and chocolaty. Nothing great going on in my opinion. It is a fine stout, nothing great. 12oz bottle pour.

Bottle. Pours a black color with a tan head a nd some lacing. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, dark fruit and a bit of vanilla. Taste of chocolate, dark fruit, roasted malt and bit of yeast in the background. Nice bitterness and a dry finish. Full body, thick and creamy, with a nice richness to it. Enjoyable beer to relax with

12 oz bottle, poured into a snifter at approximately 50 degrees F.
A: Pours a brown-highlighted black, and pools into the glass very dark, forming a short-lived thin head of pale tan. iPhone flashlight reveals some scattered ruby highlights getting through the body of the beer around the edges.
S: Dark stone fruit and chocolate well out of the glass, amid a backdrop of deeply roasted grain. There’s more than a little sweetness to the scent.
T: My first take on the taste is that of sour plums, as a wave of dark fruit mixed with an floral bitter washes over my tongue. There’s definitely more than a little hop edge to that bitterness, which is tough for me to discern anything beneath, though some very faint hints of chocolate and burned malt lurk far off in the distance, caged off by the bitterness.
M: Creamy, smooth, thick, and lively, this stout is well carbonated and prickly sharp.
O: While I enjoy the dark fruit aspects that the yeast esters introduce, this is on the hop-forward side for me, as many of Boulevard’s offerings have been. That unfortunately means that I inevitably miss out on much of the flavor that underlies those hops. While this was drinkable to me, the hop presence ensures that I will not repeat this beer.

Pours black with thick mocha head. There’s a chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, and licorice aroma. Full body that was creamy on the palate. Flavor’s of coffee, chocolate, licorice, raisin, and caramel.

My Bottom Line:
This complex multigrain Imperial Stout shares raisins, delicate roast, coffee and dark chocolate, an elegant profile balanced by torrefaction and hop resin bitterness.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam tops the blackness.
-The mouthfeel is not Gargantuan, as is common these days in the Impy Stout universe. Instead, it is relatively lean and effervescent for the style.
-Hoppy bitterness builds with every sip even though hops are definitely not what you think of during your first sips.
-The finish integrates mild acidity as well.
-This was utterly perfect for crab-filled Portobello mushrooms with grated cheese.
-This is yet another very professional brew by Boulevard!

Small brown head on top of an almost black colored beer.
Aromas of wood, roast, vinous notes, light alcohol and a light hint of bay leaf/liquorice.
Flavours of roast, bitters, prunes, liquorice, soy, cacoa, liquor tone, chocolate, some coffee, vinous, bisquits, herbs, raisin, yeast.
Aftertaste is a mix of bitters, dried leaves, roast, malts, warmgh, herbs and grass.
Low carbo, soft mouthfeel, full bodied. Great stuff! No nonesense and close to certain complexity!
