4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours black as oil with lots of creamy light brown head. The aroma is a strong blend of brown sugar, chocolate malt, vanilla and toffee. The taste starts out heavy on the caramel, molasses and roasted malt flavors with some espresso, vanilla, cherry and rum notes at the end. The body is silky smooth with soft carbonation and a dry, roasty finish with a mild alcohol burn. Overall, an excellent Imperial Stout with lots of complex dark fruit and roasty caramelized sugar flavors.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Shared with some friends at a stout tasting. Pours a medium dark brown with a nice tan head that retained for the first few sips. Aroma isn’t overpowering but has more malt and roasted oats than any other stout tasted that evening. Some vanilla and coffee but nothing overpowering. Taste was surprising with lots of oats, malt, some hops and still the right amount of dark chocolate and stone fruit. The mouthfeel was not overwhelming which was a nice change of pace. A very drinkable imperial stout if such is possible. Overall, I would seek this out again for another tasting.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a deep, opaque black with a robust and lasting tan head. Grainy aroma with elements of yeast and dried fruit. Flavor is very rich and sweet, with tons of roasted malt, mild hops, and a bit of bitter chocolate on the finish. Prominent alcohol heat. Lively carbonation keeps it crisp and not too heavy, but doesn’t fit terribly well with the flavors.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
bottle - Pours black with a dark tan head. The dark roast malt aroma has notes of chocolate and licorice. This full bodied brew has loads of sweet malt with the dark roast character and hops balancing it. Coffee and chocolate notes are apparent. While it falls well short of my favorite imperial stouts, it’s a tasty quaff.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma of chocolate, dark fruits, and roast. Overall taste is a bit muddled with flavors fighting with each other. The belgian yeast isnt as prevalent as I had thought but the spic herbal notes are. Pretty good RIS.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Something off in the aroma here, some molasses I guess. It’s distinct and malty. Sweet finish. Not bad.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Stop reading and go get some of this brew and enjoy! Poured up a dark brown colored body with a frothy thick tan colored head with good retention and light lacing. Aromas of chocolate, smoked wood, dark fruits, and a hint of hops. Flavors of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, dark fruits. Medium-bodied, lots of carbonation, dry finish with lingering flavors of dark chocolates. Would definitely pair this one up with some smoked meats!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours silky black. Head is a frothy beige. Aroma is lovely pit fruit, plum/prune, molasses, bittersweet chocolate, espresso. Mouthfeel is velvety, rich. Decadent plum fruit and chocolate, light booziness and rye, finishes with dry bakers chocolate and a hint of herbal hop spiciness. Really nice, a touch hot, but at 9.7% this isn’t unexpected.

12 oz. bottle from John’s Grocery Iowa City
Ar: Nose is lots of dried pit fruit - specifically black fig and raisin. Roastiness takes a back seat to fruitiness, but there’s a mild coffee aroma.
Ap: Pours a deep brown-black with a creamy 1" cinnamon head. Excellent lacing.
T: Rich, pit fruit flavors with some deep coffee on the finish. Loads of maltiness; this is exceptionally rich and drinks well as a dessert.
P: Thick body but a little over-carbonated for an Impy, IMO.
O: Really enjoyed this one. Love these impies with that decadent fig/prune flavor profile.
