COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Barley, wheat, rye and oats provide the foundation for this big stout. Layers of complex flavors slowly emerge from the glass: espresso, roasted fig, creme brulee. Belgian yeast provides a plum-like fruitiness, noble German hops reveal spicy, herbal notes, while the rich, velvety mouthfeel mellows to a dry, smoky finish. Such a robust beer stands well by itself, but also makes a wonderful end-note to any rich, indulgent meal. Discover the secret of combining this roasty ale to sweets, by pairing with dark chocolate or caramel, or even by pouring it over ice cream.

Bottle opens with loud "pop" of escaping gas to reveal a nice looking dark brown beer with a thick foamy beige head that lasts a while. Nose of light balsamic, sour cherries, and stewed prunes. Flavor of sweet soy, macerated stone fruit, and brown sugar over a sour base punctuated by a robust bitterness of dark coffee, unsweetened cocoa, and black licorice. The sweet-sour-bitter trifecta is well balanced, although none of the flavors really distinguishes itself. A good, sippable stout, but I’ve had better.

Bottled 330ml Arkadia. Dark opaque brown color, good steady brown head. Aroma has some cellary and tart notes, licorice and smokeyness. When warms up, more pleasant roasted aroma. Full-bodied. Roasted malty, dark chocolate, alcohol and licorice. Heavy stuff. Good but not particulary interesting strong impy.

Excellent stout. Lots of toffee, dark fruit and chocolate. Some burned sugar in there too. Pretty nice, black as night beer.

Very nice Stout, My 4 pack had a year’s worth of dust on it - so it may not have been as fresh or pampered as it should have been. Very nice nose on this Imperial Stout, full bodied taste and an interesting finish that is a little too complex to describe accurately, but it is close to a cross between a Maple Porter and a Black Strap Molasses Porter. I would love to taste this fresh on draft - since I’m a Raider’s Fan may need to plan a trip to Arrowhead so I can get the real thing live, it’s that good.

Bottle. Pours pitch black with a decent sized brown head that has solid retention, uneven bubbles. It’s a good looking brew. The aroma is a bit lactic. There is some light chocolate, a tad bit of coffee. There is a residual sweetness that stays on your tongue. The taste has a nice milk chocolate flavor, sweet dark fruits, some roasted coffee on the finish. The plate is a little thinner than your typical IS but very drinkable.

12 ounce bottle purchased a year ago at Holiday Wine Cellar ($2.99). Pours black with some brownish highlights and a big three fingers of dark brown foam that leaves lots of lacing. AROMA of roasted nuts, dark malts, light charred wood, and coffee. FLAVOR of dark espresso, hard roasted and semi-burnt malts, interesting rich smokiness, bittersweet dark chocolate, and some dark fruits. Dry finish. Quite roasty but also has a very mild sweetness which works well here. Cannot necessarily distinguish the various grains nor the Belgian yeast here, but still a good impy stout. (657, 824)

This is a fantastic beer. You can smell the rich alcohol right from the dark brown sugar colored head. Looks beautifully dark bodied. Can't see a thing in it. Great lacing. Very rich chocolate taste with light bitterness & great roasted malty texture underneath. Fantastic palate, with perfectly blended high alcohol. Not too sweet, but just enough too keep ya comin back for more.. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Flaska från SB. Svart vätska med kaffefärgat skum. Doft av choklad och brända kaffebönor. Söt smak som tar lång tid innan den avklingar. Fyllig munkänsla. Lång eftersmak.

355 ml bottle. Black, with a thin brown head. Aroma of roasted malt and dark fruits, with coffee and liquorice. The flavour is roasted malty, with coffee and chocolate, some fruity notes. The finish is a little drier, ashy/smoky. Very tasty.
