3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled. Best NY 11/25/16. Pours black with a sizeable light tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, tons of Belgian dark fruits come through. Plums, raisins, figs, smells like a quad with intense roasted malts and coffee. Flavor is roasted malts, chocolate, big Belgian quad fruits, some spice character, and bitter coffee finish. The Belgian quality and dark fruits really stand out here.

A: Pours motor oil black with a big dirty looking head. Good retention.
S: Homemade wine and chocolate on the nose.
T: Roasty but smooth chocolate and some pruney wine flavor showcasing alcohol. Honestly better than I expected .
M: Heavy and thick as expected with an oily, alcoholic finish. Not bad.
O: These big boozy beers are not my style admittedly but this is pretty good. My favorite from the box probably.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Dror’s place. Black with a nice tan head. Aroma of roast, licorice, some dark fruits, a bit of coffee and chocolate and alcohol. Bittersweet flavor with chocolate, an acidic note, dark fruits, a bit of licorice, a bit of alcohol, and a dry finish. Full-bodied and rounded. Good.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce bottle into snifter, best before 11/4/2016. Pours pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky tan head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toast, dark bread, raisin, plum, fig, pepper, herbal, light smoke/char, and yeast/roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and fruity/spicy yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toast, dark bread, raisin, plum, fig, pepper, herbal, light smoke/char, and yeast/roasted earthiness. Good amount of herbal/roasted bitterness and yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toast, dark bread, raisin, plum, fig, pepper, herbal, light smoke/char, and yeast/roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Outstanding complexity, balance, and robustness of dark/roasted malt and fruity/spicy yeast flavors; with a great malt/yeast and roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and fairly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome Belgian imperial stout. All around great robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/roasted malt and fruity/spicy yeast flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured into a Boulevard tulip glass. Dark and mysterious with a beautiful khaki head. Aromas of chocolate, mocha, roasted almonds, fig, toffee. Tasting like a dream; velvety feeling with such a complex mingling of roasty malt, coffee, cocoa, dark candied fruit, caramel. Big beer without a big attitude. Really well done imperial stout.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle (best 11/25/16) - nose is chocolate with slight coffee. Sip adds dark fruit, licorice, and pure decadence. Complex bitterness and tad to warm to accurately capture the body. A little gritty. Dry. quickly becoming a sipper. Mellows out with fruitiness. Slight nutty aftertaste.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 ounce bottle poured into a tulip glass. Pours a dark brown to black with a khaki colored head of foam. Very good retention. The aroma has oats, chocolate, caramel, nuts, milk chocolate. The taste has more of a licorice, dark chocolate, and roast than what the aroma suggested. Maybe it needs to warm some. Creamy, milky mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation. This beer is actually really good. My biggest complaint is how long it took to pour the beer. The head on this is ridiculous.
