COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Barley, wheat, rye and oats provide the foundation for this big stout. Layers of complex flavors slowly emerge from the glass: espresso, roasted fig, creme brulee. Belgian yeast provides a plum-like fruitiness, noble German hops reveal spicy, herbal notes, while the rich, velvety mouthfeel mellows to a dry, smoky finish. Such a robust beer stands well by itself, but also makes a wonderful end-note to any rich, indulgent meal. Discover the secret of combining this roasty ale to sweets, by pairing with dark chocolate or caramel, or even by pouring it over ice cream.

Black and inky with finely beaded tan lace. Intense aroma of coffee, liquorice and burnt raisons. Beautifully rich, not thick or syrupy. Flavors of coffee and dark fruits follow through to the finish. Almost acrid, but not in a bad way. Maybe a double robust porter?

Sampled in a glass that was poured from a bottle, this impy was a dark brown – black in the glass and gave a one finger or so of light tan bubbles that receded to a ring and thin layer with a dime size center mound of bubbles, it left some nice spots and small fingers of lacing that rolled off, the aromas were roasted malt, cola, a little chocolate and molasses, faint coffee, very faint dark fruit notes, a bit of licorice and some roasted malt (almost burnt)/smoke in the background, it had flavors of roasted malt, some coffee and a little dark chocolate, some dark hard candy and molasses, there was a bit of licorice, tree bark and earth notes in the background, the finish had roasted malt bitterness with a little burnt malt astringency and some hop bitterness(?), the roasted malt bitterness hangs on, roasted malt and coffee like flavor follows, the mouth feel was almost full, it coated the tongue and was creamy, and it had average carbonation it was a roasted malt impy, the nose was weak at first but grew a bit stronger as it warmed up, the flavor was roasted malt with some coffee and chocolate, it was a pretty good imperial stout.

Pours a nice black. Coffee/chocolate and little tobacco aroma. Flavor is awesome, rich and smooth, like roasted espresso loaded with dark bitter chocolate and kinda sweet. The alcohol is well hidden among the massive flavors.

Poured from 12 oz into a teku glass. Dark brown with a smallish tan head. Nose is roast and dried dark fruit; raisins, dates. Taste is more semi-sweet, with a bitterness on the tongue. Medium bodied with a nice creamy texture. Nice sipper, and not as boozy as i would expect of a 9.7%.
