COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Barley, wheat, rye and oats provide the foundation for this big stout. Layers of complex flavors slowly emerge from the glass: espresso, roasted fig, creme brulee. Belgian yeast provides a plum-like fruitiness, noble German hops reveal spicy, herbal notes, while the rich, velvety mouthfeel mellows to a dry, smoky finish. Such a robust beer stands well by itself, but also makes a wonderful end-note to any rich, indulgent meal. Discover the secret of combining this roasty ale to sweets, by pairing with dark chocolate or caramel, or even by pouring it over ice cream.

Poured out of at 12oz bottle into a tulip glass. Poured pitch black, tan 2 inch head. Looks amazing. Smell: Burnt malt, a fruit... fig? smell. I like it. Taste: Toasted/burnt malt and espresso. The maltiness stays on the back of the tongue nicely. The bitter comes in at the end at the perfect moment. The great head on the lips, like a cappuccino and then the smooth liquid. Barely any carbonation. Nice and smooth. Excellent. A great tasting stout and very drinkable. And just noticing that it is 9.7% ABV... never would have guessed by the smoothness.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Harpoon tulip glass. The color is dark black with no highlights.Light is not penetrating any part of this beer that I can detect. The head is three and a half fingers of brownish/tan foam with some nice lacing left on the glass. The smell has a little coffee aroma and has just a hint of dark chocolate. There are some black malt aroma here that has a brown bread-like aroma. The taste is has a nice roasty flavor that presents itself with some volume. There is a bold malty push on the tongue that seems at first like it could be unpleasant but then settles into a nice smokey flavor that lets some of the plum and other dark fruit flavor come out. This beer has a big feel to it at first and then eases up some toward the middle. The aftertaste lingers some with some but is not off-putting.

0.355l bottle. Looks quite good this. A deep and dark brown looking body, on the border of black really, under a big really lingering and what can only be described as super lacing brownish head. After emptying the bottle it reveals lots of big chunky sediments in the glass. On the nose I get a nice roasted tone. Sweetish coffee, some mild fudge like sweetness - but dark. It’s gentle, not what you’d might call super extreme but I have no problem saying that it smells quite nice. Lots of licorice in the taste! Oh, that’s nice! Thick and almost chewy in the mouth with a below average almost prickling carbonation level. Yeah, this is my kind of beer. Love the almost salty licorice flavors this puppy packs. There’s a bitter chocolaty thing also here. Dark really strong and slightly bitter coffee to. Roasted and sweetish. A really nice sipper this. Warming finish, really warming actually. I most definitely will be having this again! Nice! 20.06.2014

Bottle. Drank this out of season, on a 34 degree day, but still came through for me. Pitch black, even dark tan cream. Boozy nose of liquorice, dark chocolate nibs, nail polish. Velvety finish. Quite a hard hitter with flavours of coffee, dark fruits, and bourbon. Delish.

Bottle from Vika enjoyed at home
Pours dark, black in glass, creamy brown head. Smell of dark malts, liquorice, toast, coffee. Medium sweet, toasty, more liquorice, tar, coffee and chocolate. Moderate bitter, earthy hops. A very nice imperial stout. Recommended

12 oz bottle. Pours a near black with a one finger, tan head that laces. Aroma is a touch sweet with nice roasted malts, a touch of dark chocolate, and a bit of smoke. Taste is a solid bitter with some nice dark fruits, sweet candy sugar, dark chocolate, coffee, slight fruit, and an almost espresso bitter finish. Medium-full body with a medium carbonation. Pretty clean but with a creamy texture. Overall an interesting brew. Smooth flavours with a nice mouth feel.
