COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Barley, wheat, rye and oats provide the foundation for this big stout. Layers of complex flavors slowly emerge from the glass: espresso, roasted fig, creme brulee. Belgian yeast provides a plum-like fruitiness, noble German hops reveal spicy, herbal notes, while the rich, velvety mouthfeel mellows to a dry, smoky finish. Such a robust beer stands well by itself, but also makes a wonderful end-note to any rich, indulgent meal. Discover the secret of combining this roasty ale to sweets, by pairing with dark chocolate or caramel, or even by pouring it over ice cream.

Purchased 12 oz. bottle from Top Cellars Wine and Spirits in Olathe, KS with a "best by" date of 11/9/14 and served in an English pint glass. Pours black but clear, not murky; produces a very large frothy dark tan head. As carbonation dissipates, head turns much creamier and eventually rocky with a very long duration and good lacing. The nose is moderately malty with chocolate and a toasted smell. Also able to pick up light citrusy hops with just a tinge of a medicinal odor. Overall very pleasant. Initial roasted chocolatey flavor is moderate, slightly sweet but not too strong from a pour this dark. Finish starts sweet but ends up dry with a slight smokey taste. Body is fairly full with a nice creamy mouthfeel and smooth finish in the throat with just a slight bit of alcohol. Although the beer is very carbonated when first poured, the carbonation quickly leaves and it becomes fairly still and almost flat, similar to a draught stout. Overall a great beer.

12 ounce bottle poured into a tulip glass. Pours a dark brown to black with a khaki colored head of foam. Very good retention. The aroma has oats, chocolate, caramel, nuts, milk chocolate. The taste has more of a licorice, dark chocolate, and roast than what the aroma suggested. Maybe it needs to warm some. Creamy, milky mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation. This beer is actually really good. My biggest complaint is how long it took to pour the beer. The head on this is ridiculous.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- Malt, cocoa and grain into a pretty strong aroma. Appearance- This beer is pitch black with a thick brown head. Taste- Reminds of a thick coffee (without the coffee flavor) I didn’t care for the first two sips; however it grew on me with each sip. Palate- A heavy bodied beer with mild carbonation. This beer has a creamy texture and the finish has an obvious alcohol kick. Overall- A real good stout. Highly recommended.

The aroma is burnt malt, coffee, chocolate, wood, and grassy hops. The appearance is dark brown with a tan head. The taste is like the aroma with a super bitter finish. The palate is slightly thin for the style but OK. Overall the beer is fine but overrated. I would have enjoyed it more without all the bitterness.

Black body, medium to large tan head, spotty lacing. Mellow roast, bittersweet chocolate, caramel, moderate earth, a touch of coffee. Medium to full bodied, moderate to gentle carbonation, mellow sweetness, lingering, rounded finish.

From one of those odd looking Boulevard 12 oz bottles into a snifter. Well within best by date. Pop the top and woah! The aroma is powerful and wonderful! Sweet malt overload. World class. A couple of inches of brownish head. Dark as midnight but not black; brown. Mouthfeel is actually very light for this big a stout but that's how I like them. Taste is sweet brownies whiskey coconut mild vanilla and spices. Really good stout. Solid in every way. Glad Boulevard sells near me finally. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a small creamy head that fades to a messy ring. Aromas are plums, roast, dark bread and cocoa. Tastes like an odd mix of a stout and a quad. Plums mixed with roast is kinda weird. Chalky mouthfeel and unpleasant aftertaste. It’s decent but a bit odd to me.

Pours dark brown to black with a tan head. Aromas of dark fruit like fig or plums. Also a little coffee and smokiness. Taste the same. Nice lacing in the glass. Palate is medium overall. Nice stout but not overwhelming.

Dark pour with a nice head. Lots of fruit in the aroma. Plums, raisins, figs, that sort of thing. Thick and creamy mouthfeel. Really nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
