COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Barley, wheat, rye and oats provide the foundation for this big stout. Layers of complex flavors slowly emerge from the glass: espresso, roasted fig, creme brulee. Belgian yeast provides a plum-like fruitiness, noble German hops reveal spicy, herbal notes, while the rich, velvety mouthfeel mellows to a dry, smoky finish. Such a robust beer stands well by itself, but also makes a wonderful end-note to any rich, indulgent meal. Discover the secret of combining this roasty ale to sweets, by pairing with dark chocolate or caramel, or even by pouring it over ice cream.

Rather different from a lot of imperial stouts, but in a good way. The Belgian yeast and German hops add nice touches but donít overpower the beer, which is very vinous and complex. An excellent imperial stout.

Black and inky with finely beaded tan lace. Intense aroma of coffee, liquorice and burnt raisons. Beautifully rich, not thick or syrupy. Flavors of coffee and dark fruits follow through to the finish. Almost acrid, but not in a bad way. Maybe a double robust porter?

Dark black pour into thick tannish-brown head that slowly dissipates into melting lacing and a swirl of pooling foam. Aroma of roasted coffee and dark chocolate. Intiial flavor of sweet dark chocolate that fades into a smoky oak barrel finish.

UPDATED: APR 25, 2015 Stout. 9.7% abv. Opaque, darkest brown, translucent, exuberant, tight knit, tall and persistent head, dotted foam remnants but no lacing. Faint and fresh nose, with hints of tar, creosote, rust, coffee and tobacco. Very full body, high carbonation and head create a foamy, velvety mouth feel. Balanced sour-bitter-sweetness, very alcoholic, fresh tasting, sharp, extra-bright mouthfeel, sweet-sour, coffee-tobacco finish. Intense flavor, lots of roast bitterness, reminding one of espresso, grassy, rusty, expresso, chocolate, tar, licorice,?clay, fully balanced by raisiny, prune, dried fig or Spanish fig cake, alcoholic sweetness, long on palate, silky texture. Reminds one of a Tia Maria liqueur, Guiness fruit cake or Christmas pudding. Delicious, dessert/liqueur course without being cloying due to the high acidity and bitterness in the balance and finish. Despite being so rich, one could drink it forever, or so it seems.

Bottle poured black with a brown head and good lacing. Aromas are of smokey fig, toasted malts and sweet dark fruits, subtle undertones of hops, coffee and chocolate. Flavors of biter sweet dark fruit, dry malty undertones with hops tagging along. The finish is a dry bitterness, with fruity notes. Awsome beer, it is reminiscent to Serpent Stout by Lost Abbey.

Boulevard has scored big with this stout. A deep, rich aroma with hints of coffee and nuts. A bitter finish with an after bite.

12oz bottle. Pours jet black with a thick but dissapating coffee head. On the nose there are plenty of burnt malts with a decent offering of espresso. Taste us very bitter with a distinct belgian fruit yeastiness with heaps of spice and raisin. Smoked malts coming through strongly on the back of the palate

Roasted coffee, chocolate, and dark pit fruit esters present. Moderate hop aroma, but balanced well with fruity Belgian type esters. Finishes very smooth. A very good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Beautiful pour! Midnight black, with a towering, cascading head that settles into a frothy, tan topping. The aroma is daunting, rich with nearly-burnt roast, and alcohol. Drinks with a full body of toasted oats, and a nearly whiskey-like burn. Good stuff! (#4959, 3/18/2013)

Very nice Stout, My 4 pack had a yearís worth of dust on it - so it may not have been as fresh or pampered as it should have been. Very nice nose on this Imperial Stout, full bodied taste and an interesting finish that is a little too complex to describe accurately, but it is close to a cross between a Maple Porter and a Black Strap Molasses Porter. I would love to taste this fresh on draft - since Iím a Raiderís Fan may need to plan a trip to Arrowhead so I can get the real thing live, itís that good.
