COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Barley, wheat, rye and oats provide the foundation for this big stout. Layers of complex flavors slowly emerge from the glass: espresso, roasted fig, creme brulee. Belgian yeast provides a plum-like fruitiness, noble German hops reveal spicy, herbal notes, while the rich, velvety mouthfeel mellows to a dry, smoky finish. Such a robust beer stands well by itself, but also makes a wonderful end-note to any rich, indulgent meal. Discover the secret of combining this roasty ale to sweets, by pairing with dark chocolate or caramel, or even by pouring it over ice cream.

Pitch black. Aroma less than expected but I’ve had a cold. Very malty almost triple flavor. Had 4 pack from Kroger.

Bottle. Pours motor oil black with a creamy tan head that left spotty lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and dark fruit. Flavor of dark chocolate, roasted malts, black coffee, smoke, licorice, dark fruit and some subtle caramel. Velvety smooth texture, full body, roasty dry finish.

Black duh. Some head short lasting. Fig raison leather aroma chocolate bready roast . hops with lots of chocolate fig and good complexity. Well worth its price was getting tired of mediocre overpriced beers till I came along to this. I see what people were raving about here this is excellent.

Almost black beer with a toffee colored smallish head. Aroma is huge licorice, dark malts, coffee, cocoa, hops, sweet fruits, plums. Taste is smooth dark malts, cocoa, coffee, sweet fruit (fig?). Rather bitter finish. Smooth, but a bit hard to drink. A beer to enjoy, not to be drank in a hurry :) ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Flaske delt med Ovesen mens vørteren kjøles: eksemplarisk utseende med varig skum. Luksuskaffe, mørk dessertsjokolade, ispedd rosiner, svisker, kryddertoner. En symfoni av gode smaker. Fruktig og samtidig tørr. Boulevard skuffer aldri. Farlig lett å helle over drøvelen, og ettersmaken bare varer og varer...

Bottle shared with JMD at HNB 28.10.14. Persistent foamy brown head and lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, bitter chocolate, dark coffee and pine. Similar taste, with good bitterness. Perhaps also a hint of liquorice and juniper. Fine aftertaste.

Dark black color with large fluffy brown head and some oily lacing. Aroma and flavor have huge toasty, caramel malts, cocoa, and just a light bitterness. Smoky and rich, with little alcohol notes. Very good.
