COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Barley, wheat, rye and oats provide the foundation for this big stout. Layers of complex flavors slowly emerge from the glass: espresso, roasted fig, creme brulee. Belgian yeast provides a plum-like fruitiness, noble German hops reveal spicy, herbal notes, while the rich, velvety mouthfeel mellows to a dry, smoky finish. Such a robust beer stands well by itself, but also makes a wonderful end-note to any rich, indulgent meal. Discover the secret of combining this roasty ale to sweets, by pairing with dark chocolate or caramel, or even by pouring it over ice cream.

Pours black with a huge tan head. Roasted malt, coffee, and smoke notes with a funky barnyard character. Finishes semi-dry. Medium body and carbonation with a smooth mouthfeel.

Flaske delt med Ovesen mens vørteren kjøles: eksemplarisk utseende med varig skum. Luksuskaffe, mørk dessertsjokolade, ispedd rosiner, svisker, kryddertoner. En symfoni av gode smaker. Fruktig og samtidig tørr. Boulevard skuffer aldri. Farlig lett å helle over drøvelen, og ettersmaken bare varer og varer...

Bottle shared with JMD at HNB 28.10.14. Persistent foamy brown head and lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, bitter chocolate, dark coffee and pine. Similar taste, with good bitterness. Perhaps also a hint of liquorice and juniper. Fine aftertaste.

Dark black color with large fluffy brown head and some oily lacing. Aroma and flavor have huge toasty, caramel malts, cocoa, and just a light bitterness. Smoky and rich, with little alcohol notes. Very good.

Bottle into tulip glass, opaque deep black color with fluffy dark tan head. Aroma of deep roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, molasses, dark fruit (plum, raisins), berries, ash, light soy, earthy and lighty herbal. Taste adds notes of caramel, smoke, wood, char, licorice and pine hop bitterness. Heavy body, low carbonation, creamy with lingering roast/pine hop bitterness. Pretty good imperial stout, complex and rich.

Bottle (12oz $?): Pours black with 1 finger tan head that disappears leaving nice lacing. In this case the description pretty much nails it. Creamy mouth feel. Smokey roasted malt finish. Like it.

Bottle given to me as a gift by my parents. Thanks! A: Abyssian black. Mocha head that foams then firms. Lacing. N: Molasses, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, char, and smoke. Some earth and pine. Caramel undertones. T: Smokey, sweet, and bitter. Really pleasant balance. M: Heavy body. Alcohol is present but not unwelcome. O: A complex stout with all sorts of reason to recommend it. Reminds me a bit of the many Dutch concoctions which I’ve had this year; this is very much worth your time. Impressive as it’s not adjunct laden.
