COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Double-Wide I.P.A. uses Columbus and Magnum hops for both bittering and aroma with Chinook hops added in the whirlpool. It is dry hopped with generous amounts of Cascade, Centennial, and Chinook hops. The resulting beer has a hop forward aroma, redolent of peach and apricot. The assertive flavor bursts with the citrus qualities of blood orange and lemon with a slight caramel malt backbone to balance the intense hop flavor. There is little restraint in the flavor of this beer; it is certainly not for the pedestrian palate.

Poured from bottle into a tulip glass. Pours an orange-amber with a thick off-white head that leaves a great amount of lacing. Aroma is of citrus hopiness and a caramel sweetness. Tastes of moderate bitterness, pineapple, and some sweetiness from carmel malts. Light carbonation that leaves the palate cleanly. Overall the beer has a good of sweetness to balance out the moderate hopiness.

Bottle into snifter glass, cloudy golden-hued amber color with light tan head. Aroma of heavy fruity/grassy hops (citrus, peach, pine), dried fruits (apricots, figs), caramel malt and slightly herbal. Taste adds notes of bread, tropical fruity hops (grapefruit, pineapple, mango), resin, grain, brown sugar and light booze. Heavy body, moderate-low carbonation, sticky with sweet/citrus bitter finish. Very tasty complex heavy IIPA.

Transfer from BA review on 4-29-14- Poured from bottle into a snifter Appearance – The beer pours a beautiful hazed orange-amber color with an almost ruby tint and with a massive head of an off white color. The head has a great level of retention, slowly fading to leave a moderate level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is heaviest of hoppy aromas with a pine and grapefruit hop smell being the strongest. Tons of tropical fruit smells are there as well with a tangerine and mango base but with other fruit smells of melon, pineapple and a bit of berry in there as well. Along with these are some malty aromas of a slightly bready and doughy nature, mixing with the hop and sweet to produce quite a tasty smelling brew. Taste – The taste begins with a more doughy flavor with a sweetness being mainly of a caramel nature there too. A moderately strong hop presence is there at the start as well, with it consisting mainly of a grapefruit flavor, but having some hints of pine mixed within. As the flavor advances the caramel sweetness begins to fade, but the brew actually gets a bit sweeter in nature due to, as the nose would of predicted, a tropical fruit flavor of tangerine, mango and papaya coming to the tongue. Along with the change of the sweet flavors of the brew, more hop flavors also come to the tongue. The grapefruit that was present upfront remains at the same strength, but the pine hop gains intensity and is furthermore joined by some grassy hop flavors. With the new fruit and hop flavors that come to the tongue and a little bit of an alcohol taste that comes at the very end of the taste, one is left with a rather pleasant and slightly warming fruity and well balanced flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average side in its thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the average to lower side. The slightly lower carbonation works quite well for coupling the sweeter fruit flavors to the blend of hops and doughy flavor with the medium body thickness playing a nice middle ground between the sweet and hop flavors of the brew. Overall – This was a very enjoyable double IPA I must say. It had a nice balance between sweet fruitiness, hop, and breadiness/doughiness all while maintaining a rather smooth easy drinking style. Quite delicious.

Fresh bottle. Pours clear gold/orange with white, foamy head. Aroma is orange zest, faint peach, fresh grass. Lots of citrus in the taste with some good caramel malt chew to it. A solid DIPA.

This is a good one. A really good one. I didn’t know I was going into the damn pine forest. So much pine but not limited to that. Sweet peach and citrus comes through in the clutch to just assault your nostrils. So good. Tastes like straight up peach, citrus, tropical onion garlic soup. Amazing. Just super delicious. I’m excited about this one. This was a really good surprise. I picked it up because Boulevard wheat is a great wheat beer so I saw double IPA and had to have it. It’s totally worth it. Cheers!

Bottle. Pours clear amber with a medium creamy white head that leaves little head. Aroma of malt and grass. Lightly bitter, light to medium body, average to lively carbonation, lightly rich body that leaves me wishing for more. No flavor of alcohol in a nicely balanced brew.

12oz bottle.A hazy medium orange amber with an offwhite lasting head, light lacing on the pour. Aroma is sweet caramel malt, mild plum notes, yeast with some citrus floral hops. Taste same as aroma, a sweet mild alcohol flavor with God bitterness. Palate is a full bodied smooth mouthfeel, goes down easy and good carbonation. Finish is sweet caramel malt, yeast and fruity with a good citrus floral hops bitterness for balance. Overall a very good full flavored and nicely balanced brew.

Bottle. Copper amber pour with tan head. Strong spice, floral and herbal hop aromas. Flavors are more mild, hop wise; some spice and herbal tones.
