3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Shared with joshwilfong and enjoyed from a tulip glass. The beer pours a lightish copper color, with a moderate off-white head. Floral hops come through in the palate, as does a woody note that seems to betray Chinook. A background note of caramel also becomes evident, especially as the sample warms a bit. The palate shows assertive, if somewhat less than aggressive, hop bitterness and flavor, buttressed by a substantial amount of English crystal sweetness. The combination of the former and latter seem to suggest that the beer was beginning to spiral downward from its prime, in terms of freshness. Carbonation and mouthfeel are pleasant. The finish leaves lingering notes of bitterness and a bit more caramel. Overall, a nice and very drinkable version of the style. It would be interesting to sample it a bit fresher, and to get a better sense of the brewer’s intentions.

Bottle poured. Copper color with off white frothy head. Has a nutty malty aroma with citrus hops. Medium body and lightly carbonated. Starts off with a hint of sweetness but finishes very bitter. The bitter after taste sticks around for a long time.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a murky amber with a thick egg shell head that left lacing throughout. There’s a citrus, apricot, and pine aroma. The taste was very well balanced, not too sweet or overly bitter. Flavor’s of citrus, apricot, grapefruit, pine, and caramel. Medium body that was creamy and chewy on the palate. Overall a very satisfying DIPA.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a hazy amber with a thin film. Nose of citrus and pine. Taste is somewhat sweet - lots of citrus, pretty smooth (would prefer slightly more bitterness), and a little syrupy. Pretty good.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Another delightful smokestack beer. Citrus and perfume aroma. Lush body with notes of tropical fruit and subtle toasty malt. Easy finish with a touch of sweetness. A surprisingly easy drinking DIPA that still has a lot of flavor.

Strong. Hoppy and syrupy. Tasty and dank. I don’t get much peach or apricot. Just delicious hops and malts. This is a delicious palate destroyer. As it warms up, the malts become thicker, almost chewy. I like this beer a lot. I will buy it again. It’s a tankard.

UPDATED: NOV 10, 2014 12oz bottle from ABC. Pours a beautiful golden brown with a frothy, robust, super long-lasting head with fantastic lacing. Aroma filled with piney hops and a slight touch of orange. Body is a deep, dark brown amber. Flavor is sweet and bitter, but not too much of either, with a similar finish. Medium body and a wonderfully creamy texture that sticks around after every sip. Acquire. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
