COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Just when you thought it was safe to come out of the root cellar, along comes Grainstorm, a big, wet wallop to the senses. Dark clouds gather on the horizon of your glass. A high-pressure system of pungent hops collides with a stationary front of barley, oats, wheat, and rye. The forecast: a monsoon of flavor with surges of roasty malt, microbursts of fruity notes, and a chance of golfball-sized hail. The extended outlook calls for unseasonably pleasant enjoyment.

Tap. Black. Small head, little lacing. Bitter, with roasted malty tones. Good, but falls flat quickly with little carry through except for some bitterness. Decent, but was expecting more based on the description.

750 ml bottle shared by DrSilverworm. Pours a dark cola brown with a large fluffy khaki colored head. The aroma and flavor have a nice combination of the roasted malt and dark chocolate with herbal resiny and earthy hops. This does seem like a black IPA and not something pretending to be one. Soild enough.

Big bottle. Taste is a great blend of rye, hops, molasses, grass, grain and charred wood. Well done.

Near black garnet tinted brown pour with a tall (huge nearly explosive pour), fluffy tan head that has great retention. Aroma of citrus, toast and nuts, fruity notes, spicy earthy rye and nice grainy notes. Flavor is full of toasty grain up front, rye and oats make pretty noticeable appearances, nutty notes, some roast, bitter rye, grapefruit, light pine and spicy hops seem Amarillo-ish. Heavy, full body with the creamy, slightly gooey feel of a beer with lots of oats, light, somewhat sharp, blanketing carbonation. Good stuff, a little on the thick side for my taste, but it works pretty well.

0,75 l bottle bottle kindly shared by my beer pal Ole Anders. Black body with a small light brown head. Lovely hoppy notes on the nose. Pine, pollen and spruce. Roasted, bitter, glandular mouth. Medium bodied and smooth to drink.
