3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark dark brown pour. Thick khaki head with lots of lacing. Hop forward aroma. Mostly citrus. Rye spice comes trough slightly as well as a little bit of roastiness. Hop bitterness, citrus, grapefruit comes through first, but the rye spice really hits too. Nice malt backbone. A little bit of chocolate malt. But very hop forward black ipa. If I never saw it I would think it was a typical west coast ipa.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle shared at the Foothills Bottle Share- Thanks for organizing, Mike! Dark brown pour. Fairly earthy nose with slight notes of orange peel and toast. Flavor is slightly toasty with plenty of earthy and citrus notes. Not really getting much roast. More IPA than Black IPA, but still solid.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle to glass. Pours a deep brown color with a frothy tan head and tons of lacing. Aroma is toasted malts, rye, oats, piney hops. Flavor is lots of rye, toasted malt sweetness, some floral hops. Medium body with a lingering nutty rye character. Not too bad.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black pour with a single finger head. Aroma is full of citrus and pine. A little grassy and dank. Full mouth. Taste is full of citrus, mango & some sweetness. Molasses, brown sugar, almost syrupy. Tons of lace. Not overly bitter. This isn’t your typical black IPA but it is very tasty.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This has become my new go-to dark IPA. It is a deep dark pour with a nice mix of floral and subtle grainy aromas. The tastes divide as it crosses your palate, bringing out the subtle rye notes at the end. Keep these coming for awhile!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma is hops, pines, burnt caramel, huge roasted grains and roasted malts. Appearance is black with a purple tint. Two-finger head yet, recedes very quickly. Nice lacing. Grain Storm seems to be a fitting name because grains are the biggest overtone on this. Upfront, bitter hops, herbs and grains. Mid palate brings the roast with burnt caramel, molasses oil, leafy hops and a biscuit malt base. Finish is bitter chocolate, roasted malts and caramel and fresh grapefruit. Overall, I was expecting a bit more but it is very balanced. I feel like the grain overtones actually overdo any complexity there might have been. Nevertheless it is a very solid brew. A- rating.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
The color is a clear garnet with a large light tan head, and the aroma is rye with resin and floral hops. The taste is quite bitter, slightly sour, and a touch umami, but the heavy bitterness doesn’t linger, which is nice. There is a average carbonation, medium body, slick texture, and a slightly bitter finish.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours dark brown almost black, amber tint when held up to light. Big tan head. Citrus, resin, pine aroma with hints of roasted malt, chocolate and rye. Sweet malt start, quickly disappears. Followed by sharp bitter resiny pine flavor and finishes with a roasted malt flavor and a hint of rye. Really enjoy.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Too bitter! Kind of a diluted IPA with hints of rye, wheat, and resinous hop. Flavor has no sweetness and a plain sour malt note. Kind of hard to drink with the flavor and high carbonation combined.
