Like India Pale Ale, the classic Imperial Stouts were originally brewed with high levels of alcohol and hops to withstand the rigors of a long sea journey, not to India but to Imperial Russia and the Baltic States. Our version is an over-the-top riff on the style, with a huge grain bill featuring several kinds of malted barley, wheat, rye, oats, and spelt. Robust grain and coffee flavors are counterbalanced by date and plum notes from the Scottish yeast. To add extra complexity and depth, this Imperial Stout is made up of a blend of freshly brewed beer and several barrel-aged beers, carefully balanced. Za Vas!

Aroma has a bit of a tart fruity cherry note to it. Some balanced roast and chocolate notes. Also some apricot and plum. A light vanilla and oak character. Not much alcohol or hops in the aroma. Pours a dark brown, not quite black with little to no head that quickly recedes quickly. No lacing and little legs. Flavor starts with sweet chocolate and lots of fruit. The fruit is plum, cherry and a bit of grapes. A light roast character with a lot of sweetness. No hop flavor and light hop bitterness. No astringency at all. Light alcohol spice in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with light carbonation. Astringency is very low and alcohol warmth is medium low. Overall this beer has a bit of a thin mouthfeel but has a really nice flavor. Very fruit forward with some chocolate but not much bourbon notes. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black and proud with a beige head... Smells of roasted malts and some hints of hops with a caramel overtone.. I don’t really know how to explain the taste, great... Caramel, Rosted malt, fresh, lively, really quite great Long aftertaste, that to me is fresh and invites the next sip, addictive Amazing, goodnight

Brown black, notes of chocolate and raisins in the aroma. Taste is the same, and very rich, with high minerality. $15/750 ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Kaffe och choklad. Ytterst liten whisky karaktär. Lite vanilj. Mycket len o balanserad men ändå en besvikelse

2013 vintage. Something is going on in this bottle. Poured into tulip with heavy foamy carbonation which looks like an infection may have taken root. Aroma is prunes, vanilla, cocoa, dark malts. Taste is lightly raisin vinous tart with roast and cocoa. Starting to go bad but not quite awful yet.

Bottle 750ml vintage 2013 @ Geokkjer
Pours black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, coffee, licorice, dried fruits and alcohol. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light to medium bitter with a long warm, roasted, chocolate, coffee and licorice finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle, 75cl corked. A dense, finger-thick tan head forms over a more or less black body. The aroma is perhaps a bit weak, but nice, with molasses, dark sugar and coffee, caramel and chocolate and some bready hints. It’s full-bodied, lighlty warming and with a nice carbonation level. Roasted malts, caramel, tar hints, alcohol, dark bread, coffee and chocolate in the flavor. A nice bitterness too, both of the roasted and malty kind, lasting for a very long time. Overall, sure a nice one, but a tad weak all the way. but very nice anyway. 150814
