COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like India Pale Ale, Imperial Stouts were originally brewed with high percentages of malt and hops to help them withstand the rigors of a long sea journey, not to India but to Imperial Russia and the Baltic States. Our version is an over-the-top riff on the style, with a huge grain bill featuring several kinds of malted barley, wheat, rye, and oats. A portion of the batch has been aged in whiskey barrels, then blended with fresh ale before bottling. Za Vas!

Pours black with a small mocha head. Aroma of chocolate, whiskey and smoked malts. Taste is pretty much the same, but the alchohol really comes out as it warms. A bit of a tart note also. Might be better with age when the alchohol mellows.

Bottle shared by Julien, small sample. Dark color, short head. Aroma of some roasted malts, bit grainy, chocolate, coffee, slight spicy note. Bit sweet in taste, slight malty bitterness. Bit thin in flavor actually. Very easy to drink though, despite the 11.8%. Decent stuff.

Bottle shared. Black pour with thin foamy light brown head. Aroma is roasty, some caramel, light chocolate, boozy aromas, light cocoa. Taste is bitter, roasty, subtle coffee notes, tons of black licorice and a pretty boozy finish. Palate is thinner than I expected, was expecting something much chewier, a bit thin and boozy. Still pretty easy drinking.

Dark black. Very strong alcohol flavor. I was expecting to like this more. Subtle vanilla. Roasted.

Dtaft at Eulogy. Thick black pour. Foamy tan ring. Black plums. Oats. Barley. Rye. Raisins. Black currants. Dried blueberry waffles. Nice dark fruits but also has a fresher deep purple fruit flavor. Vanilla beans. Some mild dark chocolate coffee notes in there as well. Creamy palate. Bettered my expectations.

DWF; Bottle 750 ml. Special edition 2013. Pours black with a huge, creamy, lots of lacing, forever lasting tan head. Nose is heavy roasted malt, whiskey barrel, indeed, a tad too boozy, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, dark fruit, leather, tobacco and spice. Taste is heavy sweet and light bitter with a sweet lasting, leather, warming finish. Body is full, texture is creamy, carbonation is flat to soft. Complex, exciting, awsome dark force.

2013 bottle. Nice aroma. Roast and some coffee. 4 for palate. Taste was coffee roast silkiness. Very good brew. Slight alcohol in aroma and taste. We’ll done. A shade below the best stouts

Bottle. Heavy cereal, toasted and molasses, moderate resin for the hops, moderate earth for the yeast, with smoke, toffee, whiskey and chocolate milk in the background. Head is small, creamy turning wispy, light brown with some slippery lacing with good legs and is mostly diminishing. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts heavily sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately sweet, lightly acidic and lightly to moderately bitter. Palate is full, syrupy with a carbonation between soft to lively with a moderately alcohlic and sticky finish. Thick and rich, this is a nicely crafted Imperial Stout.

Pours dark brown/black color with thin light brown head. Aromas of whisky, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, and oak. Similar flavors with the alcohol pretty well hidden. Full body with minimal carbonation. Very nice.
