4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle into chalice, bottled 04/24/2009; so this is pushing on 3 years old. Pours hazy golden orange color with a nice 1-2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with great retention that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some nice lacing clings to the glass; with a good amount of carbonation streaming up. Aromas of big lemon, apple, orange peel, apricot, biscuit, toffee, pepper, clove, and yeast spices. Nice and very well balanced Tripel aromas. Taste of big apple, apricot, lemon, biscuit, toffee, pepper, clove, herbal, honey, and yeast spices. Lingering notes of citrus, biscuit, pepper, and spices on the finish for a while. Great balance of flavors, with no cloying sweetness at all. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a fairly creamy mouthfeel. Very smooth to drink at 9%, but is still a bit of a sipper. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming after the finish. Overall this is an excellent and well done Tripel that has held up nicely over the years. Nice flavor balance and smooth drinkablility.

3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hazy golden, yellow pour. Nice, fluffy white topper. Fruity, yeasty aroma. Banana hits. Taste is sweet. Yeast and fruit at the forefront with some buried pepper notes. Flavorful, but lacks that classic Belgian bite. Medium bodied and smooth, even a bit on the sticky side. Maybe not my favorite Smokestack offering, but an enjoyable beer nonetheless.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Not a great tripel and one of my least favorite Smokestack series beers. Overly sweet with a strangely sticky aftertaste.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled at Nærbø Ølfestival 2013. Slightly unclear pale golden body with a medium sized white head. Aroma is a bit light, but quite delicate. Light malt, some fruit, spices, wheat and alcohol. Flavor is surprisingly refreshing, light fruity, spicy, grass, herbs and sugar. Well balanced in body and moderate in aftertaste. Nice, quiet refreshing and the alcohol is rather well hidden for an ale at this ABV.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Golden straw color with big, lacy white head. Fruity aroma. Medium body, with a fairly sweet taste and finish. Alcohol is well hidden, although there is definitely a warming mouthfeel. This is a solid tripel; not exceptionally complex, but quite good.

Bottle. Pours cloudy gold with a white head. Lightly sweet fruity and yeasty aroma. Light caramel sweetness as a backbone with notes of fruits, citrus, flowers/grass, yeast and light pepper. Nice balancing hop notes in the finish.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cloudy gold-orange beer with a fizzy off-white head that subsides with an audible crackle. Sour yeasty nose with hints of tangerine, lemongrass, and coriander. Flavor is bright with a light sourness upfront followed immediately by a medium bitterness. It doesn’t have the complex yeasty flavors of a good Belgian blonde ale, so falls short a bit. Bracing, perky effervescence enhances the somewhat underwhelming flavor, but overall I’m disappointed with this one.
