COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lately it occurs to us that if, back in 1989, you planned on starting a brewery in the back of your carpentry shop, you’d have been wise to seek out someone like Harold "Trip" Hogue. A collector of ancient Volvos, Trip was well-qualified for the make-do engineering required to coax recalcitrant equipment out of retirement and onto making the first Boulevard beers.

The Tripel style originated in the Trappist brewery of Westmalle Abbey in pre-war Antwerp province. Its numeric moniker results from the old Belgian practice of naming beers based on the amount of malt used in the brew. A "Simple" was the lightest-bodied brew. Doubling the malt bill resulted in a "Dubbel", while a "Tripel" contained three times the amount of malt (and, as a result, three times the amount of alcohol.) True to style, our Long Strange Tripel is a golden ale with estery aromas, a dense, creamy head and a sweet finish.

From bottle in Belgian ale glass. Pours yellowish amber with a lively head from the bottle conditioning. Aroma of bananas and cloves like many a Belgian ale with the nice malt backbone of a tripel. Eminently drinkable so it’s probably good that this is the only bottle to make the long strange trip across the Pacific to my fridge. Glad to see Boulevard reach Australian shores.

Bottle...yeast, esters, banana, and some grassy funk predominate in this highly drinkable Tripal. Creamy body and a sweet impression give way to a fairly dry, clean finish. Really good.

Köpt i butik i New York. Klar gyllengul med stor, mustig och vit skumkrona. Doft av vingummi, rå äppelcider och belgisk jäst. Bra balanserad halvtorr, bubbelfrisk kropp. Smak av äppelkart, vingummi, belgojäst och citron.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy bright orange color with an enormous foamy orange-white head that lingered forever and left excellent lacing. The aroma was musty and yeasty with citrus, golden fruits, sweet tropical fruits, pez and a bit of banana. The flavor was sweet and yeasty with notes of peach, orange, apricot, pepper, yeast and banana. Long finish of yeast, pepper and golden fruits. Moderately full bodied. Excellent.

clear to semi hazy gold pour, tall fluffy white head, no lace but great retention. Super ester aroma, cloves, pear, lots of lemon. Taste is on the sweeter sode. Effervescent body. bit of alcohol in the finish.

Bottle. Cloudy gold, big cap. Aroma of banana, clove, spices, yeast. Taste is bittersweet, but not too sweet. Palate is creamy, medium carbonation.

Poured from bottle into tulip. Pours a rich goal with fluffy 4 finger head that dissipates some, but leaves a ton of lacing. Aroma is full of banana, esters, clove, caramel. Taste follows with spiciness mid-taste taking the forefront. Nice citrus notes on aroma as well.
