COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Nommo are ancestral spirits worshipped by the Dogon tribe of the West African nation of Mali. The name is derived from a Dogon word meaning ‘to make one drink.’ No, really. Nommo, usually described as amphibious, hermaphroditic, fish-like creatures, were created by the sky god Amma, who caused them to multiply by splitting them into doubled sets of twins. Seeing a trend here? Maybe it’s farfetched, but we think the story of the Nommo makes this whole enterprise a little more fun and interesting.

Our Nommo has a brilliant deep amber color and a sweet caramel malt profile. This beer showcases the coriander, cinnamon, and star anise used in the kettle, complementing them with clove and banana notes contributed by the Belgian yeast. The rich complexity of Nommo’s flavor makes it a worthy partner to a variety of meats and game, as well as aged or aromatic cheeses.

Yuck. Maybe a bad tap. Had at a little Irish pub in Kansas City. It was horrible. Maybe a bad tap. Haven't had again.

750 ml bottle shared by Tmoney99 (2011 notes). Pours a lightly hazy caramel brown color with a large off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet caramel, lightly toasted, mild spices, with dark fruit. Not overly complex, but worth trying.

Nice murky brown pour, little to no head. Slightly yeasty chunks. Nose is dark fruits, sweet malts, touch of booze. Great flavour sweet dried fruits, some booze really nicely balanced! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The appearance of this beer is a reddish orange color with a large off-white head and some fine-grain sediment throughout the liquid, and the aroma is reminiscent of sour fruit and yeast. The taste is mildly sour and slightly sweet, and the palate combines a medium body, average carbonation, slick texture, and a long finish.

Refrigerated corked and capped 75 cl brown bottle poured into a trappist glass. Pours translucent dark amber with medium brown/reddish hues and medium fluffy beige head. Aroma is dark candy sugar, medium body, medium carbonation, and nice big bubble lacing. Taste is dark candy sugar spice (mostly cinnamon), a little anise, and some dark fruit. The spices don’t add anything positive from my perspective, I prefer several other dubbels.

Bottle. Pours a mostly clear very dark brown color with a moderate off-white head on it. Nose is somewhat sweet with elements of molasses to it and implies a rather sweet drink. Taste is fairly sweet, but not overly so. Slightly heavy and not overly drinkable, but passable.
