4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Cybercat (2464) - Georgia, USA - DEC 1, 2012Comes out of the tap a dark translucent amber with a fairly thick pale golden tan head. Fruity aroma has hints of butterscotch and malt. Rich flavor has malty, woody, fruity and subtle caramel and butterscotch notes, a little sweetness and a little hoppy bitterness. Smooth, firm texture has a good amount of fizz and jazz. Gotta love the story behind the name. Do do try it!

Bottle shared thanks to Tim and Rachel! Pours a hazy copper brown with thin tab bubbly head that doesn’t really stick. Aroma of Belgian yeast, sweet caramel, and dark fruity esters. Taste is mostly the yeast and esters with a hint of smokiness. Not too sweet like most dubbels, solid.

Thanks Tim and Rachel. Clear brown amber with off white head. Sweet caramel aroma. Sweet caramel effervescent slight yeast character.

A - Pours a brilliant reddish brown with a Terminator khaki head that will not die.
S - Big spice aroma, banana bread crust, pears, golden raisins, muted brown sugar.
T - Spicy right off the bat along with a bouquet of fruit - Plums, apples, pears, persimmons, bananas, and honey dew. Dry toasted malt stays in the background and finishes earthy and dry.
M - Moderate carbonation, smooth and creamy, medium to full bodied.
On the drier side for the style. The fruity yeast is the forerunner and almost drowns out the malt. Nice yeast profile and the dry finish is welcomed.

Dark brown color with a thick tan head. Aroma is a little bready with notes of raisins and other dark fruit. Flavor is malty and thick with a pleasant sweetness. Just a touch of bitterness in the finish and a little rich, dark fruit in the aftertaste. Really nice.

Pours a reddish brown with a decent tan head. Nut and caramel dominate the flavors but it falls a touch flat. Could use a bit more carbonation. Chewy grain malt flavors and mouthfeel.

Pours cloudy mahogany. Nice head and some lacing. Smells of molasses. Carbonation slightly below average, nice for style. Molasses smell increases as beer goes down. Finishes with light sweetness. Nice. Thanks to Steve for sharing.

Light brown and orange body with a big head. Cinnamon, herbal, and yeasty. Hits the style. Pleasant as not too sweet, making for drinkability. Medium plus mouthfeel, smooth.Stephen’s bottle.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JCB (3808) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - APR 19, 2013
Nice, cheap bottle from Sam’s, Durham. Faintly cloudy, deep brown pour with amber tints. Lively carbonation, fluffy head, soapy lacing. Nose is immediately appealing, with a little more thoughtfulness than the average dubbel, including not just Belgian yeast and nerts but ripe dough, figs, and a touch of toffee. Full and luxuriant mouthfeel, just enough carbonation to keep things lively. Fruity and malty enough to pass the style test, but what I enjoyed about the flavors was the addition of spicy and dry/hoppy notes that gave this a complexity and personality that I find lacking in lots of dubbels these days. Pretty good, especially at 7 bucks.
