COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Nommo are ancestral spirits worshipped by the Dogon tribe of the West African nation of Mali. The name is derived from a Dogon word meaning ‘to make one drink.’ No, really. Nommo, usually described as amphibious, hermaphroditic, fish-like creatures, were created by the sky god Amma, who caused them to multiply by splitting them into doubled sets of twins. Seeing a trend here? Maybe it’s farfetched, but we think the story of the Nommo makes this whole enterprise a little more fun and interesting.

Our Nommo has a brilliant deep amber color and a sweet caramel malt profile. This beer showcases the coriander, cinnamon, and star anise used in the kettle, complementing them with clove and banana notes contributed by the Belgian yeast. The rich complexity of Nommo’s flavor makes it a worthy partner to a variety of meats and game, as well as aged or aromatic cheeses.

Not too subtle sweetness of this delightfully complex Dubbel brings thoughts of Stilton and grape pairing

Pours dark mahogany with a large tan head. Smells fruity, bready, hints of cinnamon and anise. Taste is spiced, cinnamon and clove, hints of anise, and a touch of banana. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture and less than expected mouth-carbonation, Boulevard Nommo Dubbel finishes with a kick of cinnamon and clove.

Dark burgundy-brown, good lacing. Juicy, winelike scent. Grape flavors. Juicy, sweet, and light caramel malts.

Pours a dark amber with a thick frothy tan head. Aroma of soap, anise, and cloves. Lots of spice with the cloves and coriander dominating. Anise is definitely noticeable. Hints of almonds and caramel. Warms the throat. Good carbonation. Nice spice kick on the finish.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours brownish-red with a white head. Taste slightly sweet, fruit. I thought this was pretty good. I would drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Comes out of the tap a dark translucent amber with a fairly thick pale golden tan head. Fruity aroma has hints of butterscotch and malt. Rich flavor has malty, woody, fruity and subtle caramel and butterscotch notes, a little sweetness and a little hoppy bitterness. Smooth, firm texture has a good amount of fizz and jazz. Gotta love the story behind the name. Do do try it!

On tap at the Crescent Moon Boulevard beer dinner. Bright chestnut color with a medium thick ecru head. Incredible cotton candy aroma. This is the real deal. Very true to style. And yet it still has American Bigness. Strong palate of high fizz and tingle. Meaty and delicious. This has an amazing quick finish of dense fruits. Awesome.

Poured clear, honeyed, medium orange with a creamy cap of soft yellowy-beige head. The aroma picked up toasted green raisins, toffee, and figs surrounded by cinnamon, anise, and fresh vanilla bean.. lovely floral and citrusy hops accented.. warm and inviting. The flavor opened with some tanginess from a combo of hops, anise, and black pepper.. fig, raisin, and molasses sweetness backed it up.. complementary bitterness around.. more spices on the finish in the form of cinnamon, nutmeg, and anise. Medium-bodied with creamy carbonation on the palate.. spices and hops were quite complementary.. warm finish. Excellent, excellent beer!

Dark fruit and raspberry in the aroma. The flavor is malty and the aforementioned dark fruit, with some alcohol in the finish. Among the best American interpretations of the style.
