Pilsener aroma, white bread, hint of sweetness. Some good depth of character... medium mouthfeel with a nice balance between pilsener bitterness and sweetness.

Wow! A pilsner with a plus 90 rating! Wait, it says Imperial in front of it. But this is a damn fine, simple pilsner. No bells and whistles. No extra dry hopping. Just a bigger ABV pils that is clean and lovely. Good bubbly look to this dark yellow hued beer. Some notes of vanilla sneak in but mostly grain tastes here.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft @ Amesbury Ale House. Pint shows a clear yellow color with thin white head, no retention. Clean aroma of light grassy Saaz hops and honey. Flavor is lemon notes, a tad of honey, some strong Saaz hop bitterness in the finish. Light in body with weak lingering bitterness. Even with the “Imperial” Label, it’s still just a pilsner. If you really like the style, you should really enjoy this. Otherwise you may want to skip it.

Poured into 24 oz tulip from champagne bottle. Gorgeous golden color with thick head. Crisp Germanic flavors couple with a hearty alcohol overtone. Every bit a pilsner, but with the wallop of a big beer.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, caged and corked. Pours as you’d expect ... bright and light, brilliantly active and bubbly, rising to a big head. Dry starchy appeal all the way, here ... the sweet corny character smoother than the average beast. Hides its 6.6 quite well, easy going and mellow on the palate, this is a finessed classic. On draft at Red Apron in Union Market. Faint grassy hop aroma with a hint of lemon. Big sweet hop taste gives way to an intense bitterness that quickly fades to a dry chewiness. Little but of heat/alcohol comes through. Pretty amped up pils!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very pale golden colored body looked very much like a typical Pilsner, but the carbonation was much more lively, and made it look like a club soda. The beer initially had little head, but the fizz formed it soon afterwards. The smell was clean and malt, with a hint of grass as well as lemon. The taste was much more intense than I expected, with a flavors of of honey, white pepper, banana, bubblegum, and a hint of lavender and blonde raisins. The beer was light in the mouth and had a peppery aftertaste. This was definitely quite interesting.
