3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 videofrog (57) - Austin, Texas, USA - OCT 14, 2012
Poured from a 750ml bottle into a a Courage IRS tulip. Bottle indicated Batch 3 from 2012. Best by date of Apr-2013.
Aroma: A bit muted, but as it warms up more comes out with a little agitation. Sweet grains and faint lemon/citrus.
Appearance: Clear, light orange with a frothy white head that dissipates quickly.
Taste: Spicy hops are there balanced with cracker. Hop bitterness accumulates and leaves a pleasant aftertaste. Dry finish. Slight peppery alcohol, but not much.
Palate: Light bodied and crisp. Carbonation is lively as expected from a pilsner.
Overall: Wish I had been able to try this a little fresher, but as is I think this is a solid beer, as is every other offering from the Smokestack Series. I like the simplicity of the single hop-single malt recipe. Very refreshing and worth trying.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 WabashMan (970) - Noblesville, Indiana, USA - APR 29, 2013
Pours a fairly light, tending toward medium yellow with a large white head. Nose is yeast and malt, with a bit of hops. Flavor is much the same, though the hops come through stronger in the flavor, mostly in the finish, which is also moderately dry and lingering. A really nice Imperial Pils and one I’d happily drink again.

750ml corked bottle poured a hazy muted yellow hue w/ a huge bright white head and subtle lacing. Moderate aromas of bready malt, hay, yeast, and lemon rind. Initial flavor is a light sour with a moderate bitter finish of short duration. Tastes are similar to the nose with a bright tartness of lemon and peppery hops. Medium bodied, lively carbonation and a dry alcohol finish.

Bottle; Pour is clear light golden with a frothy white head in this glass initial, moving to a more subdued fine bubbled white head soon after - light sticky lacing is present as well here. The nose is a nice floral, lemon, lemon, and a hint of soap. Finally - an imperial pilsner that doesn’t overstep ; it’s clean, quaffable, and while it feels more robust than its mild brethren, I can happily state that they did a good job here. More floral, cream, bitter grass, lemon peel, which do linger, while swirling with the malt profile, moving to the more moderate mouthfeel. A nice attempt for sure for the style

Smells like lemon, wheat, bread, and noble hops.
Tastes much like it smells, but sweeter than I expected. There is lemon, wheat, bread, noble hops, and some grapes. Sweet with some hops to balance things out.
Light bodied with plenty of carbonation.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 OKplus (355) - Oklahoma, USA - FEB 15, 2013
Note: This review is the original Collaboration No. 1
A - Pours a hazy muted yellow. Huge sparkling white 3 finger head. Little lacing
S - Inviting bready malt, sweet hay, funky tart yeast, hints of lemon and tropical fruit. Earthy hops come out as it rests.
T - A sweet start. White grape & green apples get the ball rolling, wonderful malt background along with wet grass & peppery hops. Alcohol shows up just a tad. Alot of white wine attributes as well
Pretty solid beer. It was like I was drinking a champagne beer. Drinkability is up there. It would be nice in a six pack. This is my first Imperial Pilsner.

Hay, honey, hints of horse blanket, and floral aromas. Pours a hazy light-yellow with none lasting white head and no lacing. The taste is similar to the nose. Hay, grains, floral notes. Medium to light body with average carbonation. Dry. Overall, enjoyable but not overwhelming.

Pours a light, slightly hazy gold with a foamy white head and some lacing. It has a light aroma of yeast, bread, and some light malt. The flavor is pale malt and bread notes up front, with a light-medium body and a crisp, slightly yeasty aftertaste.
