2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Pear Delicatessen & Shoppe, Seattle, bb 04/12/15
The bottle is a slow gusher, it pours a cloudy red-amber color with frothy head, and some floaties. The aroma presents some malt, sugar, vegetables (cabbage) and light fruity esters; not convincing. Good body strength, moderately sweet, with smooth mouthfeel; candyish malt flavor, with light fruity esters, more evident vegetables, ordinary bitterness, and some yeast astringency in the final; it also has a light alcohol feeling.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
From the corked, caged 750 ml. bottle marked Batch no. 613081-2-03-2015. It is an attractive looking medium mahogany amber pour with a quick lived cream colored head. Good clarity. The aroma has a full malt character to it along with a tart cherry-fruit like substance and some yeast wrapped around all of it. The body is medium to full with a sharp sort of astringency to it. Pungent malty-cherry taste with an explosive and dry hop afterbite. Vaguely boozy.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Frothy yellow head atop a deep brown body. Boozy nose. Flavour of smoke, burnt caramel and bourbon. I like the smoke on this one, as it makes the Quad more bearable.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Blind quad test against Westvleteren 12, Pannepeut, Rochefort 10, St Bernardus 12, St Amatus 12, Pannepot, & Chimay Blue My prefered order was; Pannepot, Rochefort 10, St Amatus 12, Westvleteren 12, St Bernardus, Pannepeut, Sixth Glass and last Chimay.
Pours much brighter than other quads. Aroma is light plum, some yeast, some alcohol. Taste is quite sweet, alcohol is there, a lot of raisin and plum, candy sugar, some faint citrus hop input. Too carbonated, a bit too boozy, and just not enough to be interesting.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a large tan head that sticks around as long as there’s beer in the glass. Cloudy cherry red body with lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom. No aroma perse. Boozy flavors. Somewhat cherry like. Thin body. Interesting but I think once will be enough.

4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz. bottle. Pour is a murky orangish brown with well over a finger of light beige head. Big aromas of fig and plum with raisins and carmelized sugar, sweet toffee. Some citrusy pineapple notes as well. Taste is big with plum and citrus, lots of yeasty spiciness. Some sweet caramel and banana as it opens up along with some hints of cherry and allspice. This has one of the best noses in a Belgian ale that I've experienced. Alcohol very present but not overwhelming. Glad I picked this up.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Highly carbonated for a quad ale. Not very traditional, but excellent overall. High alcohol content - and I think they are being pretty conservative with the 10.5 rating - it hits fast.
