Better known for stories such as The Little Mermaid, Andersen wrote this short, cautionary tale for a somewhat older audience. Our quadrupel ale, also meant for the mature connoisseur, is a deep and mysterious libation, dark auburn and full-bodied, its sweetness deceptive. Bottled. Rubyish amber colour, big foamy/creamy beige head. Aroma is fruits, some alcohol, mild glueish notes, some earth and mild notes of apricot. Flavour is lots of caramel malts, liquorice, quite strong alcohol (not disturbing though). Mild spices and yeast as well. A rather pleasantly balanced brew.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of Storm. Pours a slightly hazy, orangey brown with a rough, bubbly, off-white head that fades rather fast. Fat aroma of caramel - burned caramel - and some yeast. Quite full-bodied with sweetish, burned caramel and lots of fruit - overripe fruit in particular. Rather warming alcohol finish. Starts rather timid but really grows on your palate. 110108

Hazy red-brown beer. Short lived tan head. Toffee nose. Softish palate but with a small carbonated kick. Sweet malt with some spicy bubblegum. Nice but doesn’t hide the abv too well, warming aniseed alcohol in the finish. Tasty but a bit warm.
