Our quadrupel ale, also meant for the mature connoisseur, is a deep and mysterious libation, dark auburn and full-bodied, its sweetness deceptive. As Ole describes the glasses in turn, their contents become more ominous until, in the sixth glass...

Dark but not super dark. Tan head with lots of head no matter what angle I pour it at. Aroma of cherry and caramel with hints of wood. Taste full body and heavy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle best by November 19, 2016.
Glass: Fiddlehead teku.
Appearance: Odd sort of copper color with reddish hues almost coming off pink with floaties in suspension. The head is dense and light tan, has decent retention.
Aroma: Bready malts dominate, slightly smokey, with medicinal cherry phenols with some spicy phenols to match. Aroma is moderate in strength and doesn’t really entice.
Taste: A bit astringent, toasted malts prominent, with medicinal cherry coming through. Not a fan.
Palate: Medium bodied, moderately carbonated.
Overall: Drinks okay, doesn’t excite and doesn’t suit my palate.

From Smokestack Mixed 4 pack Into Blvd’s included tulip glass. A: Very heady with half glass of tan bubbly foam. Tawny orange hazy body with little visible carbonation. Head persistent. Good sheet lacing. S: Wine. Tart raisins and yeast mostly. A touch of dry wood. T: Drier than expected. Very winey sherry-esque flavor. Strong with alcohol. A little yeasty. Warming. M: Heavy but still crisp with a nice delicate carbonation feel. O: Not something I can see myself drinking regularly. I’m admittedly inexperienced with the style but still not my cup of tea.

Tastes of fig, molasses, caramel, slight spicing, some wood, touch of alcohol warming but overall hides abv fine. Nice finish not syrupy or sweet. Lovely beer.
