COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment thatís just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard itís fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were developing variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a flavorful surge of fruity aromatics and hoppy, grapefruit notes (Amarillo hops), this complex, straw-colored ale finishes long, dry and spicy.

This is an excellent strong Belgian thatís a bit on the hoppy and spicy side. It is a slightly hazed golden orange w/ a very long lasting head of rocky, fine-bubbled foam. The nose on this is quite hoppy and could give some pretty decent IPAs a run for their money in that regard. It is a lavendar character mostly and some citrus. A lot of this comes from a spicy yeast as well from the hops and this yeast hops and I always enjoy when brewers can get these two elements to play together nicely as Boulevard has done here. This a strong beer and relatively juicy and full bodied but nice and dry so it drinks a little lighter than one might expect given the gravity, which is in part due to its carbonation. Once tasted, the focus shifts from the hops more to the yeast and a bit of fresh cracked malt. It finishes dry w/ a light lingering bitterness and spice across the tongue. This is definitely one of the better American influenced Belgians and I am really glad to see brewers in the US are starting to consistently do these well.

Not bad. I see what they did with this one. They upped the abv and went easy on a tame saison yeast strain to make it doable for everyone. My only gripe is in this case I like the funky, eartht, lick a rusty barn funkiness to belgo/french saisons. Taste and aroma are clean and nice, The palate is smooth and easy going. Not much funk but they make their point. Overall not too shabby, A really good offering for newcomers to the funky brew style scene

The very best American version of the Belgian style Saison. An instant favorite...probably swaps any given year with Funkwerks Saison. Cannot go wrong choosing either any time on any occasion.

4-pack from Fresh Thyme grocery store. Pours orange with a large puffy head that recedes slightly with plenty of pillows left behind. Heavy nose of soapy, horse blanket yeast. Flavors of sweet Belgian candy, cotton candy, subtle hops, citrus, yeast all around. Very crisp. Full carbonation and light/medium body. Nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750ml bottle from Costco, Bakersfield. Nose is citrus, caramel, floral, and hints of tart, cloves, and yeast. Hazy urine yellow with a big yellow, long lasting, heavy lacing, tinged head. Flavor is lightly tart, lightly bitter, lightly sweet, with a bunch of fruitiness. Actually exceptionally tasty.

Wischylini (130) - Grimstad, NORWAY - JUL 2, 2014
Pours a hazy light orange, with a creamy white head that leaves a decent lacing. The aromas are hay, bubble gum, citrus fruits, light malts and a clove-heavy blend of spices. The taste is quite sweet, and not very bitter, although it does have a dry finish, and the high abv is barely noticeable. The mouthfeel is slightly slick, and the beer is well carbonated.
