COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that’s just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard it’s fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were developing variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a flavorful surge of fruity aromatics and hoppy, grapefruit notes (Amarillo hops), this complex, straw-colored ale finishes long, dry and spicy.

Aroma is bubblegum, tropical fruit, straw, banana and clove, funk, herbal, spice, not as funky as I like. Appearance is slightly dark, more of an amber golden, with an off white head. Taste is bready, funky, a touch of that Belgian yeast, so very smooth, funky, slight tart, slight tropical fruit. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, incredibly smooth and creamy with a straw and bitter aftertaste. Overall, this is a lot juicier than expected, but still quite enjoyable.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 10/31/2016. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy golden yellow color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big lemon zest, grapefruit, pear, pineapple, peach, orange peel, pepper, clove, wheat, cracker, bread, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Fantastic aromas with awesome complexity and balance of bright citrus/tropical hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon zest, grapefruit, pear, pineapple, peach, orange peel, pepper, clove, wheat, cracker, bread, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Moderate yeast spiciness and floral/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon/orange zest, grapefruit, pear, pineapple, peach, pepper, clove, wheat, cracker, bread, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/tropical hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from carbonation and bitter/spiciness as well. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, fairly creamy/bready, and lightly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an incredible saison! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/tropical hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and moderate bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Light pour and aroma. It’s a nice beer, higher alcohol than I was expecting -masked very well. A little floral, some spice, not too strong.

Bottle. The real stuff! Immensely dense aroma with a zillion tones of hops, honey and spruce. Mouthfeel is almost overpowering; golden honey, hoppiness that is rich and deep and not merely sharp, yeast notes that enrich the malty goodness. Long-lasting. Divine. Life-sustaining. Enjoy.

Wow this has alotta life. Baby growler from BTL. Stepped on the cat. A thick white head with thin droopy leg sits upon a bright greenish amber thing... hazy column of Yum. Rounded yeast tones then hops. Yeast spice mellows then rises to citric smack. Boy this here is a groovy Saison. Lingering nose. The cat is fine.

Growler filled at Brew, thanks to August and crew for keeping it fresh. Farmhouse funk in the nose. Super clingy fine foamed head. Lemon zest, barnyard wang up front. Clean and tart in the middle. Great representation of what I enjoy in a saison.

Bottle. Hazy orange pour, huge white head. Aroma of spicy yeast, floral, citrus, lemon peel and some tropical fruits. Flavor is quite bitter, spicy and with a huge body and lively carbonation. Nice saison.
